I normally edit 1080P footage (Sony EX1) and it works pretty OK.
I downloaded a WMV file, converted it into MP4 using Prism video converter and successfully imported into FCP. It's a very small 7 minute 40 MB file.
The problem is, FCP has slowed down so much that rendering a title takes 45 minutes(as opposed to a few seconds on my 1080P files). I even exported the file to MOV (existing settings) and started a brand new project. Not much help.
It is so bad that I am almost going to Premiere Pro to see if I can have better luck there.
What could be causing this behavior? Any clue? Got to finish this thing by tonight. With the current FCP speed, it may take three days. My estimate on the whole project would be no more 20 minutes of work! Am totally lost here.
