weird burn mark on canon 5d sensor (HELP)

I just took my 5d out for some shooting today, bright sunlight and it was beautiful day to film. At the end of the day, after checking my footages, I've found that some of them got noticable burn marks, I've checked the sensor and I've found that there is a sort burn marks on the sensor :(
This is not really a good news as I'm not sure whether I've just destroy the camera sensor by exposing too much under harsh sun light shooting? Any advices on how to fix this are more than welcomed.......

:( i got a confirm from technician that my sensor got burnt...... is there anyway to protect your sensor while aperture is wide open and lots of sun lights?

This is going to come off as flippant but the best bet for sensor protection when wide open is the lens cap. After that the next best is ND filters.

so what did you do? makro lens directly into the sun? cus that looks like... the type of burn marks i got on stuff a a kid playing around with magnifying glass... lol

=___=, welll I was filming my mate playing golf on the field. I used Canon K35 55mm at wide open T 1.4 and filming for like 10mins straight....... this is just really bad day for me

I've seen a couple of cameras with burned image sensors. You should never aim the camera against the sun (specially a bright sunny day). Your lens magnifies the sun and burns the first thing it gets to- the sensor.

I had a friend who destroyed a HVX200, after a shot he aimed it against the sun while talking to the actors about the next scene, once he wanted to shoot it was all black on the screen, and the camera was burning hot.

I can't believe some people would still do this.

Still do what? That's the more interesting question. I shot macro directly onto the sun for 15min once on DV (dumb yup, but cool footage!), camera got a black out & sent to service but sensor was normal, they just had to make some optics adjustments. SO, can we assume a sensor this size is very very sensetive to strong sunlight and also HOW cautious one should have to be?

Always use a big lenshood unless you have the sun in your back? etc... sensor replacement doesn't sound very cheap...

Thanks for all the info guys, my camera has been returned back to canon for warranty. So it's all good :), lesson learned, don't put it under the sun for too long, 5D sensor is very sensitive
