Weight of various DVX rigs for tripod head

I have a question about a fully rigged DVX100A. I have purchased a Miller Solo with a DS10 fluid head which has a selectable payload setting from 1kg to 5kg (2lb-10lb).

My problem is this, the native DVX is sweet on the lowest setting of 1kg(2lb) however what happens when I load it up with an anamorphic lense, Chroziel matt box? How much over will I be? (Haven’t purchased the matt box, lense ect. Yet) Someone said the anamorphic and extender are a big piece of glass.

What weights has anyone achieved with their various rigs. The other fluid head I could get is the DS20 which is selectable from 5kg-10kg (11lb-22lb). In this situation I would have the native camera - a light camera sitting on a head intended for twice it’s weight? But this gives me scope for extra weight.

Don’t want to have a head (the tripod that is) that is redundant.

Help! Any advice, weight of rigs etc I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks Cecil_Beta ???

Re: Weight of various DVX rigs for tripod head

Hey I was faced with the same question a short while ago. I ended up buying the Manfrotto 503 head which takes up to 13lb. Unfortunately I have not yet tried a rigged up DVX100A on it yet.

I have however rigged up the camera (before i bought the head) with mattebox with rods, 0.6 Century lens, 4x4 filters, battery and it weighed just under 7lb.

The only extra thing I can see adding weight is a follow focus. Also the 0.7 lens and the anamorphic would weigh more than the 0.6. You should be fine if the DS10 takes up to 10lb. A big thing is also counterbalance during tilts. A head might be rated to take up to a maximum load of "x" weight but that's from a fixed leveled out position. Tilting becomes a different story.
