So I've decided I'd like to make a DIY loupe for my GH2. I have noticed on several pictures of dslr cameras with loupes that they are being used on swivel screens that are folded out so as to be beside the camera .. not just in the more traditional orientation at the back of the camera. That would be really quite handy as it allows for lots of useful angles .. but I am a little leary of the swivel point being damaged by excess weight when the screen is in the folded out position.
So does anyone have any long-term experience with a loupe on a swivel screen and, if so, do you know the weight? Also please specify the camera model as not all swivels will be created equal but nobody will have a long enough experience with the GH2 to be of use (unless they managed to break theirs already by adding a loupe) -- so extrapolation will be required.
