Wedding Video.. new. DVX+HVX

looks pretty good. but there is something i have to ask. what do you think my chances are with lisa? would she be willing to ditch kevin for me? be honest, dude.

well.. I thought it was too slow for my taste, kinda bored me.
wasn't there anything funny going on.
I mean she looks good, but you showed her for most of the movie so I got real bored and fliped to the end
I think you can edit it better to my taste.

LOL... what? A wedding video is to focus on the Bride :) So, that's the way I cut it.

And ugafan... I think Lisa and Kevin are very much in love... I'd say you have no chance... sorry man.

To be honest, I totally disagree with your stance. To me, a wedding video is not about the bride. It's to show the couple (yes, both of them) the things that they missed on the day. You know, the reaction of their audience as they get married, the father of the bride tearing up during the speeches, the friends and family arriving at the church. And then it's about what the other half was doing on the day, the bride gets to see what the groom was doing and vice versa. Of course you have that element of wanting to look back in a year or two and say "hey this was our wedding, didn't I look slamming hot in that dress" but it should be primarily about the things that they didn't see or didn't have the time to absorb and remember...the PHOTOGRAPHS are designed for the bride and groom to look back on and think how pretty the bride looked but IMO there is no point paying $$$ for a videographer to focus on the bride...

In my opinion...

Anyway I thought that the cutting was generally good but I agree that it was a tad slow. I liked the way you started with the audio although it seemed a little blown out (or was that the compression?). I also though that perhaps the colours were a little washed out. Also I'm confused, are you zooming in on photographs there? It seems a little static. I think you need to add a bit more life to it, I mean you have the basics but the whole family is probably going to watch this and so I think it needs to be a bit more easy going.

Sorry I'm in one of those "type a lot and critique" moods.

i did a simple color correction. In after effects i duplicated the layer, dropped the opacity, and used blend mode overlay soft. i think it looks way better.

I also do weddings... just wondering what people think about muting the natural sound during the walk down the isle? Do you think its more effective to get the actual sound from that day... or put in your own audio?

Also, just wondering.. how much do you charge? Just wondering. I am an amatuer. Just getting a feel for.

I think you did an excellent job, well done!!

Did you have wireless mics on them?
Where did you get that beautiful soundtrack?
And is that the actual length of the video you gave them?
Do you give the couple the raw footage, or just the edited portion?

I charge $350 for a two camera shoot like this. It includes a DVD of a wedding highlight video, a reception highlight video, and I also give them the raw footage.

I put a wireless lav on the groom to pick up the audio.

They're friends... and yeah, I know... it's low low... I don't do wedding's apart from friends though... but I have a lot of friends... LOL

That's a pretty amazing price for the quaility they are getting. I charge $300 and I don't have a wireless mic set up, nor a professional camera.. yet. What format do you give them the raw footage on?

I see your approach on the highlights rather than the whole ceremony... it's more fun to watch the highlights =) Maybe I should consider that?

I give them the raw DV tapes.

And yeah, people generally don't want to watch EVERYTHING, just a brief snippet, so I always do a 7-10 min. highlight video of the ceremony and a 5-10 min. video of the reception.

Brandon you need to add a 1 in front of that 3. Unless they're friends of yours.:)

I agree. I charge $500 just to shoot one camera for 4 hours with them getting the raw footage and no editing

that's it? i need to hire you as dp for my next movie.

Yes Brandon, the going rate for weddings where I live is 2000- and up.
Don't under-cut yourself like that. Actually if I wanted to rent an extra camera I would spend at least 250.00. Just the camera.
Peace

$350 for 2 cam shoot, that's charity man, I do just a raw footage for $1200, but there is everything: groom and bride's houses, church, park and reception from dusk till down :)
