Wedding video camera

Perfect choice for weddings. Light, flexible, cinematic pictures (when you learn to operate it correctly). All that you need.

I recently shot a wedding using both an XL-2 and a DVX-100a (long story....ok, not a long story, but I don't feel like typing it out now :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) )

Anyway...they both produce a fantastic image, but personally I feel the DVX is the better choice for "event videography" because the XL-2 was monstrously heavy. I couldn't believe how heavy it was. I had the DVX on a tripod and was walking around with the XL-2....I SO wish I had done it the other way around.

Once I switched to the DVX for handheld, I was in and out of the dancers on the dance floor with ease. I had the camera in one hand and the other hand I used to make sure I didn't run into anyone (I was focusing my attention on the viewscreen) and my arm never felt fatigued. With the XL-2 during the ceremony I had to use both hands and it was still a heavy load.

Just my $0.01 9/10

Need advice on web video

Need advice on web video

I'd like to chime in here with a observation of my own. I would definitely get good audio with any camera I chose, and good lavs that you can have the minister or preacher attach to whatever he is holding in his hand, that way you can have another mic on the ambient audio and still pick up the key players. Now can I pose a question here. Is the softness of the DVX good from web compression, and does capturing 24p take any longer then in FCP then if I was to shoot and capture on a camera like the PD170. Anyone have experience with this camera. I am a DVX fan but will rent another camera to do the job, I need good audio like always. Thanks.

I've been shooting weddings for a while both on DV(PD170) and on super 8.
Just got my hands on a DVX100 and will be using it soon for weddings. I now have so many choices and styles for the videos, the list seems endless. Looking forward to using it.
