GH4 Wedding shot with James Miller's settings.

Overall, the settings worked out well though once the lights when down, the i.resolution was too aggressive. I'd likely set idynamic to low and i.resolution off. Just noise reduce in post and regrain, basically. Very few shots with the 5d markii and BMCC. I'd say 90% GH4. I shot UHD except for the 60p overcrank scenes.

That a nice wedding video. I can tell that you have some experience with that type of project. Were you handheld? What was your primary lens on the GH4?

How did you shoot the bouquet toss? The bride was framed and in focus, and then you cut to the bridesmaid who caught it. Two cameras? Refocused and cropped in on the 4K image? Or did you move camera and ask the bridesmaid to act like she had just caught it? Just curious. It was a nice edit.

The coloring was very nice. The Miller settings seem to be working for you. Good to see.

Stunning video. As someone who is looking at going into weddings and pondering over the GH4 this has been a definite decision maker! What size was your crew?

Sorry, another question too - do you provide the clients with full length edits of the ceremony and speeches? Or just the punchy highlight package?

Yeah, I had a second shooter with a 5d mkii. Two cam wedding except for the ceremony. I had a BMCC on a tripod for the mid wide safety angle. Thanks for checking it out, I'm glad you like it!

Just two of us that day. Make sure you buy a BMCC speedbooster or the m/43rds speedbooster for low light and "oh crap, it's WAY darker for the exit than I thought it was going to be" moments :) As far as delivery, all depends on what they'll pay for. Basic packages include some modest syncing of main events (ceremony, toasts, first dance etc). I'll probably phase that out though. People will pay separately for those things once you build a good name and demand. I work for a pretty solid company out of Houston and this was done under my own company that i'm trying to re-launch.

Cyork don't you also have the A7s?

Yep. I actually returned my GH4 (not without hesitation and deliberation) and paid the extra for the A7s. I just couldn't stomach the low light stress that came with the GH4. I shoot a lot with the FS100 which is really great in low light and with weddings, you have to be ready for anything. The A7s is fantastic though I miss that 4k detail in camera. I wouldn't hesitate to get another GH4 for certain types of work. Fantastic camera for the price.

This is what I am wrestling with right now to jump to the a7s or not.

Tough choice if you need 4k in camera or you shoot lots of fast moving action/sports stuff that would require lots of quick whips. Otherwise, I'm confident to say that the A7s is the nicer image (1080p). Sharp, 60p is great, crop mode is far better than on the GH4, less noise....everywhere, color is subjective but I prefer Sony's color reproduction. Ergonomics is hands down better on the GH4, the touch screen is great....the prices are certainly not the same although I'd argue that you'd need a speedbooster for the GH4 to walk it back to a s35 frame and be able to keep a lower ISO in rougher scenarios....All I know is that both are capable of producing amazing images for crazy low prices.

Really beautiful. Thank you for posting. What lens/lenses did you use on the GH4?

Rokinon 35mm t 1.5 cine, Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 (Nikon mount because it has a mechanical aperture pin=cheaper adapter options) and the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8. I used the crop mode to punch in for the ceremony but I would not use that mode. It blows up the noise and softens the image a bit. Just use the focal lengths you actually need and you'll be better off. Thanks for watching!
