Wedding music video...

I shot and cut this video for a college roommate of Stephanie's (my wife).

Shot single camera over three days in September. My first project in Vegas 6.0, so please be gentle as I'm no editor.

Camera: DVX100a, Setting 6, 24pa, Thin, CineGamma D.

The shots are very nice and the editing is good. Maybe some of the shots are a little fast, but I'm not sure if that's what they wanted. As far as editing the only thing is it looks a little washed out. So try bringing down the blacks a little bit more. But other than that, its very well done for not being an editor. Nice job!
 
I thought it was pretty good. I didnt really care for the big white transitions, they were a little too spaced out and sometimes jumpy. Good work though.
 
I'm curious... could the Vegas WMV 9 512 compression have something to do with the softness you noticed? It is all really sharp on my calibrated 1354Q monitor. I had my scopes up tonight as I color-corrected and color curved the final edit.

I used Sony color curves to bring up (peak) levels to between 60 and 80 IRE in the underexposed rehearsal dinner sequences. For well-exposed scenes, I did Sony color correction (1st plug-in) to move mostly the mids around slightly.

Only two or three shots were purposely overexposed - the backlit shot of them embracing with in-camera lens-flare is one of them.

Last thing - I agree on the pacing of a couple of the white transitions. I'll rework those tomorrow. Thanks for the constructive criticism!

Okay! I need help... I rendered a QT6 at the highest setting and there are jags during dissolves. What, in everyone's opinion is the best available compression for web service within Vegas 6.0c?

Yes, it could be that. ( the compression)
 
Good job. I have my first wedding to edit as well. Not looking forward to it with two cams and at least 6 tapes to mull through. Thanks for some ideas.
 
6 TAPES!!!!???!? Damn :) Was it a Catholic wedding? (I am Catholic, so I can make that joke)

On the clip: transisition were little fast. Look good other wise
