Wedding lenses. So much choice, don't want to get it wrong.

Hi Joy, yeah the 16-50 looks like a nice lens but does the LA-EA1 not have the iris jumping issue where it opens wide and then sets to whatever you choose? That's the only reason I would choose the EA2. Auto focus isn't that big a deal to me and on the EA2 the iris is locked to 3.5 which is no use. I have a 28mm 3.5 rokkor and a 50mm 1.7 as well as a few wide zooms. My minolta af adaptor is in the post so I'll do as you suggest and try the minolta beercan on the vg10 when it arrives. I know the vg10 is no where as good as the fs100 in terms of gain but it'll give me a rough idea. M.

Any suggestions for supports rails to hold the 70-200?

I got a lens support from Lanparte - good quality - just over £50 shipped to the uk - i wasnt charged any duty fees but may have just got lucky. Got a decent baseplate and rails from Shoot35, very solid and british made, think Wayne the creator is on this forum from time to time, really helpful fella

Yeah Im pretty happy with Shoot35 as well... Have the baseplate, and 4 rail pieces. This setup is long enough to mount my Vocas lens support and my followfocus on the 70-200.

Thanks for the Suggestion, I've sent an email to shoot35, could you help me a little further and tell me which rails and baseplate you got for the fs100?

Thanks, Michael.

When going to a larger aperture it does open it all the way first, when stopping down it just goes to the next f-stop smoothly. The 16-50 is a really sweet lens, so far I'm very happy with the combination. Shot a some stuff for a commercial today and the combo was flawless. Looking forward to getting out and shooting more with the 16-50, but its going to be my main lens for the time being.

I have a panasonic af101 not the sony but yeah its the cine base plate

A word of warning, my one of these has worked it's way loose for me. It's based on a Gitzo quick release baseplate and because of that i got a number of plates so i can move everything around.

I think it highlighted that there's not that much holding it (just the compression bit at the side), yes there's a safety pin thing (and if it wasn't for that i'd have lost the camera) but on reflection i think i've decided it's not heavy weight enough to hold a proper rig. I'm looking at alternatives.

Perhaps i've been unlucky but another Gitzo baseplate did pretty much the same thing to me, so i wonder if it's a gitzo design fault or that they're really designed for stills cameras (surprise, surprise).

cheers

Looking at the list of nikon 80-200s on this link http://www.keh.com/search?store=cam...&ccode=7&grade=Grade&sprice=0&eprice=0&r=SE&e
it shows a wide range of prices for the 80-200s.

The cheaper ones seem to have a push pull ring for zoom and focus, the more expensive ones are separate zoom and focus. Is there a downside to the cheaper versions? I assume it harder/ impossible to use a lens support with them?

M.

I have the more recent seperate zoom & focus (that they still make) - the only moving parts are the zoom & focus ring so is easy to use with lens support, matte box etc - havent used the older push pull lens
Thanks for the heads up Paul - not had that issue but is good to know & watch out for
