Wedding Editing Difficulties

Hey guys, I recently shot a wedding for a friend of mine using my HVX, recorded at 720pn 24fps. The colleague I worked with used a sony and shot on HDV Tape at 1440x1080 at 30fps.

The editing is a nightmare.

I edited a section from the HVX footage alone at 24fps to show my friend the footage, to check it out please go to youtube/rbeckerfilms

I am editing on FCP7 and to be honest editing is not my cup of tea, but I have to suck it up and get it done for my friend.

So here are some problems;

1. Matching quality of footage. When I put HVX into 30fps timeline it does not take up fullscreen as the 1440 footage does.

2. Frame rate. If trying to put 1440 footage into 24fps it looks horrible because it was shot at 30fps.

I don't know how to use cinema tools, and compressor I have only used to burn dvds.

In final cut I put the timeline to 1280x1080i but I cannot get the footage of the HVX to fit the window, there are black bars on the sides left and right.

What is the best solution to match the quality of the footage so that I can edit and stop having to mess around?

I really am at a loss.

Thanks in advance.

Figured it out.

Converted the Sony footage to DVCProHD 108060i and set my timeline for 1280x1080 29.97 fps, HVX footage dropped right in no problem, such a great camera.

I was thinking backwards.
