Wedding Clip

Here is a link for a wedding clip I am working on.  It is the rough clip, I am going to take out few things and slow some stuff down.  This is a Windows Media File ;D  but it is over 20MB (I did it for Quality) and Liquid Edition gives me the option to output a WMV at 24P.  Sorry for you dial up guys.
Let me know about the sequence, I will probably move some things around.  I usually run these type of clips after the ceremony, I shoot the formals usually if the Photographer Lets me (When I am not working with the Boss).  Any other suggestions I would appreciate it.

Had to remove the link to get my site ready for the contest.

Re: Wedding Clip

Lovely!

I'm sure sure how 'filmic' it is - a monopod to steady out some of those shots would've helped - the shakey stuff has a tendency to made it a bit of a 'camcorder' affair.

Really liked the time remapping on things like the kiss - what a greeat idea, really nice!

Good sequence, thanks for sharing Boda.  ;)

Re: Wedding Clip

The color, is it filmic? It was a 24p, right?

Re: Wedding Clip

Charley, I'm guessing you're asking if the colour is cine-gamma - from what I can gather, it looks like it... care to comment, Boda? :)

Re: Wedding Clip

Yes, Boda. What are you using? Did you use cine-gamma, F?

Hmm. Very shaky, either work on how you hold the camera to steady your shot, or carry a tripod/monopod with you. There also wasn't enough variance in the shots. If you only have one camera there try to imagine where you would put a 2nd and 3rd camera, then go there and get a shot. Especially during the formal poses when there is plenty of time for you to reposition yourself. Don't show your zooms unless it's stylistic or motivates a transition (they worked a couple of times but there was way too much). Edit in your head as you go. If you're on a long shot think "I'll want to cut to a different angle or a close up" then switch it up. Alternate long and close and get more extreme close-ups. Pace your cut-aways of the waves, surfers, and kids to break up the monotony of the poses instead of bunching them together. For the portion of the wedding you showed in the clip here are some stylistic suggestions. Stick your head in the door on the other side of the limo to shoot the Bride as she gets in. Get some close over the shoulder shots from behind the photographer to give it a behind-the-scenes kind of feel. Start with an extreme close-up of the bouquet and slowly zoom out to show the pose. Don't be afraid to take over when the photographer is done and ask the bride and groom to kiss again, blow kisses to the camera, or goof off in some way. But most importantly...hold that camera still! :P I did like the use of the live music and the cut aways to the band.

Sorry if I sound harsh but to me weddings should be like beautiful short films that are really easy to shoot since someone did all the work for you. Its produced, locations are locked, actors are ready to give you a wealth of emotions (crying and laughter), and someone has spent thousands on set design and craft services. All it takes is some cinematography and clever editing to make it really magical.

Re: Wedding Clip

This is just a rough cut i have some more beach footage I have to go through that is better, I just don't know if this is going to make the DVD because of time... It is approaching 1 hour 20 minutes which is usually my max.
This was a very different wedding and the few times we suggested things to them they were not very interested, we were at the beach for 1 hour while the photographer was taking pictures. The ceremony was over an hour, and when I asked them if they would like to do a few thing they said all they wanted right now was to eat and get drunk (I wish I had the camera on when they said that) and we had to drive another hour to the reception. We only took one camera to the beach and did not take a tripod because we had to walk almost a mile to where they shot this. I was nervous enough just having the camera there.

That footage there is just a rough cut. I probably won't post anymore footage of this wedding because we didn't have a demo agreement with them, and there are kids on there without releases from there parents. So I can't leave it on very long in case they go browsing the sites. This crowd was in a different social category. You should of seen the servers at there wedding. They marched with their hands behind their backs and their heads down like they were servants. The photographer and my wife were both highly offended, the photographer left because they served us food 2 hours after dinner was done on a table under a tree with no lights. It was horrible.
