Website feedback

I've just put up my new website for my freelance business at www.midamedia.com

I very keen to get anyone's feedback on the design/layout, navigation, video samples etc.

It was a bit of a rush job and I'm not totally happy with it, especially the homepage design. But it has all the info I want users to know. Is it too much info?

If you also have time, I've also just put up a new website for my "real" job (the full-time job that pays all the bills). The company is Channel 1 Creative Media and we specialise in training videos, corporate videos and tv commercials.

The weblink is www.channel1.com.au

Again any feedback on design, navigation and information would be much appreciated.

They both look pretty decent, but so similar in design. It definately looks like a cookie-cutter template but very legible and clean.

The sites look good. Real good. BUT do NOT use images for all your text (content). That is the worst thing you can do for a website. Why? Because people will NEVER find your website. Search engine spiders can not read images :) Search engines use content as the main factor for placement on their search lists. What's the point of a beautiful website and good services if nobody can find you? Seriously, you need to design your site using real text. I know it's a little more difficult, but if you check all the top listed sites they all use text (not images). Use text that includes keywords that people will use to find your site. Meta-tags don't mean as much as they use too. Content is King! Right now your websites have NO content because it's all images.

If you websites didn't look good I wuldn't bother givig you this advice. But the designs are really nice and you deserve to have visitors.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I was relying to much on the meta-tags to deliver visitors. I'm still relatively new to web design, I have plenty of design and video production experience, but using the simple GoLive to drag and drop images to create the websites and trying to keep the design uniform with my brochures etc.

Has anyone had problems playing the video clips in the wedding videos section? Does anyone have any feedback on them. It's all shot on a Canon MVX3i, hoping to upgrade to the Canon XL2 in the next few weeks for professional results (finally charging normal rates as well).

Looks good. But PK is right. Your site will be 1000x more effective if you make all of your text into HTML text. With the design you already have, it shouldn't be too hard. You might be amazed what percentage of traffic you end up getting from search engines. It's potentially very valuable, so it's worth the extra time to capture it.

Cool, now design me one for free. :)

just kidding man. Take PK's advice. I'm on a 56k(wink) and those images takes really long to load.
