I thought this would be the right place for these since it's a little off the topic of the other thread. This is right out of the camera. The jpegs don't look that great but it's an idea. I'm having a blast with this camera

Nice Scully- I especially like the light/shadow of the last one! There's some nice stuff to work with grading here...

105 be d@mned!

thanks... the blacks look really good to me. I'm really happy about it. The project is a comedy so most of it is high key like the first one but we had that one scene. I think 105 10bit thing is cool if they can do that on an upgrade. Not sure I would spring for a new one to get it.

Really good work. Thanks for sharing. Would you mind giving me a hint which scene file settings you used for the first shot? The skin tones look very natural to me.

I do a lot of 3-point-lighted interviews and at the moment I am using Abel Cines clean scene file and a 55% zebra to get the right exposure on faces. But most of the time I have to do some tweaking in post (and I am not very good at it). Your result looks like the optimum that one can get out of the AF100.

Here are the settings I used:

Gammma HD Norm
Matrix Norm2
Dtl Level -4
V Dtl Level -2
Detail Coring +2
Chroma Level -3
Chroma Phase 0
Master Ped -3
Knee Mid
Skin Dtl off
DRS off

It also helps that our actress has such beautiful skin ;) I keep the zebras at 70% and stay under but 55% is where I try to land too on skin tone, just over that 50% line on the waveform up to 65 seems to be fine. I don't mind falling under 50% a little to keep highlights as good as I can get them. Day exteriors are tougher. I used the y marker for exposure too. It's pretty handy. You can point it at a spot it gives you the reading, kind of like a light meter. So on some daylight exteriors with dappled sun, I could see if I was getting above highlights that were useful.

Thank you very much. I tried your settings today under tungsten light and I like the result. Compared to the clean settings from Abel Cine your setting looks less saturated, thanks to the Norm1 matrix. I think I am going to use it for the next interviews.

Is this your "to go"-setting which you use most of the time, indoor and outdoor? And did you use it for the night shots above, too?

Yep, I used it for the whole shoot. I just white balanced for new setups. I like shooting with HDNorm. It's really clean and grades up nicely since it's sort of neutral to me. The one before this was a short where I used CineD Gamma which I really liked for that one. It has a different feel.

Hey Hscully you not happen to have graded versions of these shots do you? I was hoping to see how the final product turned out, fantastic blacks on this dude.

someone mentioned filming like old reversal film with 8 bit cameras rather than flat and I think you have this here? It's nice contrasty footage like this that makes me excited to go shoot something

thanks... yeah, I was concerned about the blacks when I was shooting it but it came out great. I haven't graded this yet. We have shot 30 pages for this and have one more car scene to shoot so and I'm just getting started on it. I'm not a really experienced colorist but I'm getting better. I will grade just these and put them up here as vimeo clips.

Cool, 30 pages! That's great!, you guys could probably get help with the grading anyway, big projects like this would be a dream for an up and coming colourist to work on. Look forward to seeing the clips!

thanks... the budget for post on this one is not really all that much, but the people doing it are great. I'll get the night exterior clips up soon in the next day or so.
