Has anyone found any real differences with audio when it comes to webbased work. Maybe you can skimp on the high quality mics (don't crucify me)?

It'll never sound any better than your original recording - the best you can expect from any subsequent step is break-even.

Are you certain it will never be seen/heard anywhere except as a web download?

well web, or computer. It's possible that it could be viewed on a computer as a seperate stand alone program (i.e. no downloads,streaming, ect..) thru a DVD or something

I think you already know the answer. Please DO use the low quality mic. It'll make it easier for me to make a living.
