We need an Undecided thread!

If I had a nickel for every person who started a thread asking which camera to buy....... I could buy every camera and just give them away!

I don't know if this suggestion is more of a joke, or a good idea, but a section where undecided people (pulling their hair out) can go, to desperately ask a bias group of Panasonic fans if Panasonic cameras are the way to go or if another model is right for them.

What happened to the good old days when you could go to a professional camera dealer and have a salesperson help you figure out the camera that best suits your own needs?
Hahaha. I just needed to type this out. Indecision at it's best found at DVXuser.com.

:)

(Perhaps this was not deserving of it's own thread)

I agree, but maybe the thread should be called "window shopping"

It'll get worse before it gets better, because nowadays most cameras are offering the fundamentals of what people want. A few years ago the decision was instantaneously easy: if you want to make movie-like footage, you bought a DVX. Simple. Done.

Now, you've got the XHA1 and the V1 offering nearly exactly the same features across the board. How do you choose between those? And you've got genuine 24p (or close enough) offered from every manufacturer. There are a few genuine differences (JVC's interchangeable lens/shoulder mount form factor, Panasonic's P2 & variable frame rates & DVCPRO-HD) but as the products become more capable, and the image becomes better and better, it's going to make the decision more difficult.

The more similar the products get, the harder it is to choose between them. I expect that this will continue.
