F3: Ways to mount Hyperdeck Shuttle to F3?

I recently purchased a Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 and I have yet to use it out in the field because I can not figure out a way to secure it to the F3 body. I see that Blackmagic makes a cheeseplate for it but thats another almost 100 dollars and I dont have that kind of money to invest on a cheese plate. Are there other options I could use? Also, separate issue, when i hit record on the hyperdeck, i cant get it to stop recording. i read that you hit the stop button and its suppose to stop but that does not work. Thanks

This is how I did it when I owned the F3. It uses the BMD cheeseplate and then a 15mm rail mount block I got from smallrig.com. You could just try a 3rd party plate like this: http://smallrig.com/camera-support-plates/smallrig-cheese-plate-with-15mm-rail-clamp.html but not sure how you mount just a shuttle to a plate then.

The v-mount battery mount was something off of ebay for $15 which I linked to on this thread: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xd...12-sony-f3-hyperdeck-shuttle-questions-2.html. It also has a d-tap port on it which can then power the camera.

I have the cheeseplate and find it to be over-priced and it also adds a noticeable amount of weight. I'm considering using some Velcro on the back of the Shuttle and then put some on a quick-release plate (with camera mounting screw removed) and see how that works. I can mount the other half the QR plate to a cold shoe. Just a thought.

I had mine mounted with velcro on the top my f3, worked great. But I have the body armour so that space is cleared. But now I have switched to the atomos samurai blade, its got all the flavours of prores, deinterlace the footage automaticly, has better power-options, much easier to mount, and have a pretty good screen with some good tools.

Velcro would be my first thought to mount it.

But what I don't understand is why a person would buy a Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 in late 2015??!! When for practically the same price you can get a Atomos Ninja 2, which can double as a monitor, and is very handy for reviewing/checking the footage you shot. Or a little bit more, and get a BMD VA or Samurai Blade with a vastly better screen (and in the case of the VA, also has FHD 60fps).

If I remember correctly the Ninja doesn't shoot uncompressed slog 10bit RGB 422. But the Hyper will

The Ninja 2 does record that, been using it with my Sony F3 for exactly that purpose. Why would you think it doesn't?! :-/

Not sure if its RGB but it shoot uncompressed. For me uncompressed is more than I need but I actually kept my shuttle as a backup for this reason.

RGB 422? Not aware of that being a thing. There's YUV 422 and RGB 444. The Hyperdeck Shuttle, to my knowledge, only supports YUV 4:2:2.

Nowhere in the literature does it say the Ninja 2 can record uncompressed. It can take in an uncompressed but it records to Prores and DNxHD. A couple clues would be that it can use spinning HDDs, whereas the BMD HDSII needs the SSD. That's because the Ninja only records up to 220Mbps. The HDS-2 gets 1,326Mbps (YUV 422 10-bit).
