FS7: Waveform with slog v3.0?

Am I losing my mind or am I now not able to view the waveform in the viewfinder while in CineEI slog? Works with a viewfinder monitor LUT on.

It it also seems that zebras are now reading slog even with a viewfinder monitor LUT on? I can work with either I just need it to be consistent. Am I doing something wrong?

Something must be wrong. The waveform is present for me at all times now. At least how i shoot.

Strange - Mines the.. opposite?

CINE EI ->
Waveform works in Slog 3 -> VF and Internal LUT OFF
Waveform works in Slog 3 -> VF OFF and Internal LUT ON

As soon as I turn on the VF LUT, waveform is gone (internal LUT doesn't change anything)

EDIT ->
Waveform works with LUT enabled as long as SDI2 has it enabled as well.
If I have LUT enabled on SDI 2, but NOT in the VF -> The waveform doesn't work. Turn it off on SDI 2 and VF -> Waveform works.

Had to reread nslotz post from the firmware thread:

States When Monitor LUT Cannot be Configured Independently
In the following cases, Monitor LUT >SDI2, HDMI, and Viewfinder in the Video menu cannot be set individually. They are synced with the SDI1 & Internal Rec setting.
– When Output Format >HDMI in the Video menu is set to 4096Å~2160 or 3840Å~2160
– When S&Q Motion >Setting in the Recording menu is set to On
– When Lens >Distortion Comp. in the System menu is set to Auto

States When Video Signal Monitor Cannot be Displayed
• To use Video Signal Monitor, SDI output must be enabled. Also, the output resolution must be 2K or lower. Check the following settings.
– Output On/Off >SDI in the Video menu
– Output Format >SDI in the Video menu
• In the following cases, Video Signal Monitor cannot be displayed in the viewfinder.
– When the SDI output is edge cropped using Output Setting >4K/2K to HD Conv. in the Video menu
– When Monitor LUT >SDI2 and Viewfinder settings in the Video menu are different

Ok so I figured out the waveform issue. I had sdi2 lut output on with viewfinder LUT off. Making them the same fixed it.

Still seem to be reading the underlying slog image with the zebras when the LUT is on though. Which seems to be the opposite of what it used to be before the update.

If zebras were in fact reading the levels of the underlaying slog when the LUT / MLUT is being displayed, then they would not respond / move upon toggling of the ISO switch because such toggling has no effect on the underlaying slog. At least in my camera they meter values of the LUT-ed signal.

Right... I will try that test next time I have the camera out. But when I was switching between MLUT on and off, it didn't seem to be having any effect on the zebras.

Depending on your zebra settings and at certain exposure index rating, zebras of the LUT-ed signal and slog are very similar because they show values of only a small portion of the curve. So in a way it might have been a coincidence.

Keep the MLUT on and toggle your EI.. then the zebra and WF should move.. if its monitoring the LUTed VF image .. ?
