GH2 Waveform and HDMI out from the gh2

I have been using an HDMI to component converter to monitor the output of my GH2 to my 17" panasonic monitor. Although the image appears to be reasonably accurate (I compared it side by side with an hdsdi input form an EX1 and looked at the media I shot in Final Cut) the WAVEFORM is not normal. The whites are stopping at 84% and the blacks are almost 10% below 0.

Is this a function of HDMI to component or might it be the camera output. I tried it on all four of the HDMI output settings without seeing any change
