FS7: waveform 4k cine ie with lut

Can I get a waveform with this setting:
cine ie
709alc monitor lut
4K

I once saw the waveform in my viewfinder, since I changed some settings it dissapeared. I suffer from an information overflow so I can't find the answer myself at this moment.

And is this waveform (if it is possible to see) showing the LUT or the recording?

or is waveform an only 1080 thing?

thanks

Luts and waveform will not work together unless the luts are all on (burned in) or all off. My workaround is to use an external HDMI monitor as it will keep the waveform displayed even though it disappears on the VF

Thanks a lot for your answer.
that leaves two exposure ways?
with lut and zebra
or without lut and waveform

since I am out of money at the moment I'll have to wait with hdmi monitor.

Time to be pragmatic. How many scenes require SLog3 to capture the full DR of the camera? Very few.

If you build couple of decent LUTs and burn them you can have zebras and waveform. Burning a LUT can also make better use of the available 10 bits and actually grade better than the SLog3 counter part.

I was shooting Slog3 and through a process of elimination I had settled on one particular LUT that I religiously applied as my base grade so I decided to just go ahead and burn it and this has the nice side effect of being able to get all the monitoring tools the camera has active without encumbering oneself with extra hardware. Job's a good un.

You don't have to follow the SLog3 dogma nor invest in HDMI monitors to get the job done.

Hi Nirv,

Some shots dont have bright parts, then it is nice to have waveform.

I am mostly filming nature, Dutch skies, sun, clouds and water. So I take advantage of all the Dynamic Range I can get. Most of the footage is OK, It looks good in viewfinders, zebra in sky or brightest parts. But sometimes I am in doubt, is this the correct exposure? Haven't had complaints from the editor.

My 'baked lut' is in post. Ctrl A, apply lut to all files in Resolve and ready. I make a rough cut and the editor/finetuner does the rest.

So just for these few shots without bright parts 'that will zebra' I think I need a tool, but maybe a bit more experience will do too.
