Waterproofing the 5D

I'm trying to do a shot where I have the camera literally under a shower pointing at our protagonists face. Does anyone have an idea of how to pull this shot off cheaply?

How cheap are you talking? The best option would be to rent a housing. Much safer than those cheap plastic bags, and much better functionality - the plastic bags are fiddly and it can be hard to push buttons and navigate menu's.

I once built an underwater housing for about 50 bucks that I put a Canon HV10 into and sunk to the bottom of a 10' swimming pool. It can be done, but if you aren't handy, just get a bag and think about how you're going to (cheaply) deal with water droplets and running water on the front filter.

Other alternatives:

Long lens - stay away from falling water

Shoot into mirror
