Was Superman Returns shot on HD?

I just checked the technical specs of Superman Returns at IMDB and it says it was shot with a Panavision Genesis HD Camera

what do they mean by HDCAM as source format? is it digital? or is it film?

HDCAM is a video format (top of the BETACAM line from Sony...)
