Was it shot 24P or 24 advanced?

I have a tape of footage that was shot on a DVX100a. I believe some of it was shot 24 progressive and some 24 advanced. How can I tell what is what?

I thought some of it would only have 24 frames but it seems whether I shoot 24p or 24a I still get 30fps. Am I missing something?

thanks in advance!

They are both recorded at 29.89fps or whatever it is to tape. Its when you bring it into a 24p project in your NLE where you see the 24p of 24pA. Then when rendering, you use a 24 fps output.

Its the whole pull down thing that I wont get into but you can search it if you want to know.

If I shot in 24p can I edit in 29.98

If I shot in 24p can I edit in 29.98

So, I have some footage shot on the DVX at 24p advanced and some accidentally shot in 24p. The problem is I don't know when it's 24p and when it's 24p advanced.

Can I just edit them both together in a 29.98 timeline and output them 29.98 and never know the difference or is the 24p footage going to look different then the 24pa?

Play the tape in the dvx and press the TC Counter its around the OIS button(I cant remember off the top of my head). There is one mode where it shows the framerate. Just play back through the tape and you will see which part is which, I had this problem too.

Hope that helps!
