Warranty Question ?

I just realized that my DVX-100A has a warranty card that lists only Panasonic Canada, Inc and Panasonic Canada (PCI) on the warranty statement. Did I get a Canadian version of the camera? Is there such a thing? The warranty is valid in the US, is it not? I guess I can write Panasonic and ask.

The box says that it is a AG-DVX100AP. It came from Bilibi. (should have been the first clue, eh? )

Re: Warranty Question ?

Welcome to the horrible world of gray market. You bought from an unauthorized dealer, and got stuck with a non-US warranty. I would strongly suspect that you could only get warranty service if you shipped the camera to Canada.

Re: Warranty Question ?

I bought a 5 year warranty from a u.s. vendor so I will never have to deal with panasonics shipping dept.

Re: Warranty Question ?

I did buy a 4 year warranty plan with a US firm, when I purchased the DVX.

(I've never needed any warranty work on any of my Canon or Sony gear, but who knows? Just thought it made sense this time.)

Re: Warranty Question ?

Mine came with a Canadian "Warranty Statement" sheet that only lists Canada as well as a "Service Support Guide" sheet that lists the US and Puerto Rico and a green "Limited Warranty" card. I bought mine from EVS.

Re: Warranty Question ?

same as sweet release, but I live in canada so it doesn't matter. besides how often does your cam go in the first 12 months' . I got the 4 year extended

warranty question?

warranty question?

i bought my camera from b&h and it too came with a Panasonic CANADA warranty card, and b&h has always been reputable, but the camera package also had a sheet saying:
"to location a convenient authorized servicenter (in the u.s.a.)"
with this phone number: 800-526-6610

Cameras bought from US dealers will also come with a separate Canadian Warranty, since US cameras have a worldwide warranty. If it only came with a canadian warrty though, it is possibly a candian camera. ;)

Re: Warranty Question ?

The paper work also contained the "green" limited warranty US stuff, so I guess I'm covered. whew....... :P
