warning: some violence and adult images: Final "American Film Market 2005" teaser!

This is for our movie, "BLACK DAHLIA", which stars lots of people including Spike Lee's brother, Cinque Lee, ultra-sexy Masuimi Max ( www.iamtrouble.com ), the world-renowned painter/artist, Robert Williams (who is also in the teaser), Fantagraphics comic book artist, Dame Darcy, pin-up godess Julie Strain, horror film stalwart, Trent Haaga, alt. porn star, Jade Starr, actor and magician, Charles Schneider, and a bevy of other folks... our actress, Sarah M. Scott, made her big tv debut as the prime suspect on last week's CSI:NY (episode: "Dance With The Fishes"). Also our lead actress, Kristen Kerr is one of the main supporting roles in David Lynch's new film, "Inland Empire"... oh, and David J of Bauhaus (currently on tour) did the score, with Ego Plum & The Ebola Music Orchestra doing the orchestrations. David Lynch's sound designer, John Neff ("Mulholland Drive", "The Straight Story"), is working on the sound design.

The film is almost finished cutting. Sound design and mix are next, along with color correction which starts next week (the 1st feature film in the USA to use the Edifis ("THE FINALISER") tapeless HD color correction system ever, will be our movie... Other than that, not much... but please, turn out the lights, turn up the sound, and glue your eyes to the monitor... you will probably not all like what you see... and remember NONE of the footage you see has been color corrected (all of it is lighting, filtration, and alchemy)...

And we'll be at AFM for the next week and a half exposing some of this along with the rough cut of the movie to a few companies that have gotten interested.

We'll see what happens.

All the best,

Hey Ramzi,

Nice to see the film is finally taking shape! Here's hoping you beat out DePalma!

Jonathan (formerly of Troma).

Cool teaser man. Sounds like you put quite the cast together. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks everyone... good to see you on here, Jonathan. And Smithhouse, the answer has to do with the cosmic trigger and quantum mechanics. It's gonna be neat when it's done. The rough cut's somewhat bitchin' already.

Can't wait to get some reactions from folks at AFM.

Thanks, y'all... and keep on keepin' on (or something like that).

Best Wishes,

Ramzi

p.s. as for the cast, to be honest. I don't know. I've gotten to know a lot of people over time from festivals that i've shown all of my different shorts at, and then some of it really is cosmic coincidence.

p.p.s. i never audition people.

But seriously dude, thats an impressive production you have going there.

Best of luck.

Looks cool!

Ramzi, did I see you on the Troma "Make Your Own Damn Movie Box Set"? You were in Dallas no less, right? I hope I'm thinking of the right person. If so, I wish I had known you were filming here when you were :)

Yes, Limehouse... that's me on the boxed set. There's a segment in there about my 16mm film "The Tunnel" which had Lloyd Kaufman, Mark Borchardt, and Masuimi Max in it... and yes, it was shot in Dallas. I live in LA though... but I am a Dallasite to begin with...

Thanks, and all the best,

R

thx and another thang

thx and another thang

Violent images for a violent world... sexual impulses for an implusively sexual world...

And thanks again, folks...

Also another technical tidbit. Aside from the use of the Varicam for the 1947 sequences/dreamscapes, which is only like 20% of the film, the footage shot on the DVX100A was a mix of stuff done with Century Optics lenses shooting in squeeze mode for a 16x9 signal, stuff shot with the anamorphic adapter (shooting in 4:3 obviously), there is also a good amount of stuff generated on the P+S Technik adapter, with which we used Cooke lenses and other stuff the DP picked out... so it's a melange of stuff... wait till you see the b/w super 8mm stuff and the itty bitty 35mm sequence... it's gonna be neato. The end product will be available in two forms, one 16x9 for 16x9/widescreen televisions (and for a possible film print), and one cropped to 1:85.1 for normal tvs and dvd... more after we go to color correction and final mix (plus the rest of the scoring)... the journey is still ongoing...

Thanks again, and all the best,

R

btw i met with Studiocanal two days ago at AFM, which was an amazing little meeting... they showed me the long promo for Lynch's "Inland Empire"... and I'm so excited, because our lead actress is IN the promo... she's one of only 5 actors that are in the promo, and the VP of Sales there knew who I was talking about when I mentioned Kristen, 'cause... well, anyhow, whatever, I'll tell you more soon... very exciting... I can't wait for Werner (Herzog) to see the newest rough cut... i've gotten to know him over the last 2 years, and he's been as anxious to see what the movie's turning out like...

again thanks y'all... if you're curious or around btw... i'll be at the AFM from Saturday through next Wednesday all day (from about 8-8 probably)... anywho...

Best,

R
