"Warning Gyro NG" recently popped up on the LCD screen while I was in camera mode. I recorded some footage and the playback was choppy on the camera. When I playback the footage on my other camera it plays fine. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks in advance.
No, not specifically, but I thought that that message was related to a failure in the optical image stabilizer. If so, it would make no difference what camera you played the footage back on, it should look the same...
I tried shooting with OIS on and off and got the same result on playback. It's weird but that warning only showed up once. I'm thinking this problem might be with the tape heads. Recording is fine but playing back on the camera it skips. I haven't been using just one tape stock. I tried using the cleaning tape, it didn't help.
We bought a spare AG-DVX100 14 months ago and never used it.
I started up the spare and immediately the WARNING PSD NG error came on.
It does not matter whether OIS is on or not, and I pressed the reset button with no effect.
We are quoted $2100 for repair, which is ridiculous. We wish to turn the warning off.

Thanks.
PSD NG off warranty is BAD. $2100 is about right. Was the fault present when you turned the camera on the very first time? If yes, than that's the reason it was for sale (if it was second hand). As a rule of thumb, when you buy a new product, that you don't intend to use for a certain amount of time, you turn it on every now and then, just to check it's still working. Anyway, check its functionality as soon as you get it. A camera is a very complex device and there are about two million reasons why it can go wrong...
Yes, the fault was present when we first turned it on. We bought it brand new from B&H Photo in New York City, a reputable professional dealer.
At the time we though it was just due to user error, and stored it as a spare until needed. Well only in the last few weeks we had a need for it, so we proceed to search for the Warning message in the manual. We found it in the NTSC version manual on page 51-- WARNING PSD NG is an error in the camera system; "problem with camera shake detection".
I guess we'll continue using it on a tripod. I just wish I could turn off the flashing warning.
