Warning Focus Lock????

I was just calibrating my cameras for a shoot tomorrow morning when my DVX100A starting flashing a warning that said "Warning Focus Lock".

I tried turning the camera off and on and it still stayed on. It would flash in both the eye piece and the LCD flip out monitor.

I then hit the button to take it to the VCR mode (blue screen) and then back to the Camera mode. It stopped flashing and everything appears to be OK.

The manual says that it's reporting that there is something wrong with the focusing. The focusing appears to be OK now.

Has anyone else ever had this problem? I have a pretty big shoot in the morning, and even though I'm covered because I'm using 4 cameras, I'd still like to know what's going on.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

eric

Re: Warning Focus Lock????

happened to me along time ago, but went away and havn't seen it again. I wouldn't worry about it, every warning i have gotten has gone away after a bit.

Re: Warning Focus Lock????

I'm curious about that. Did you have a 72mm filter screwed onto the lens when it happened? The only reason I ask is because I had a UV screwed in that dewed up when I took the camera out of my airconditioned car to take a shot. The auto focus immediately seemed to "grab" the texture on the UV filter and wouldn't release it until I used manual focus. When the dew dried, it went back on it's merry way.

Where is the auto focus sensor? ???

Re: Warning Focus Lock????

Thanks Jarred. I think you're right. During the calibration I was doing some pretty close up work. That may have triggered it. In any case, it's fine this morning. Heading for the shoot now. Take care.

SafetyO: No, I didn't have anything connected. I was just using the color bars to do some extreme calibration on all 4 cameras. I may have either hit something or when going through the menu, it might not have liked something I was doing to the LCD controls.

BTW. One good secret when going from Cold to Hot. Put your camera into a 2 Gallon Zip lock bag until the temperture and humidity equal (about 3 to 5 minutes) and from then on, you shouldn't have any problems.

Re: Warning Focus Lock????

Love the fish story Jarred.

Just finished the shoot without any problems with the Focus Lock, but when I got back to the studio and turned the camera on to check something, the Warning Focus Lock came back on. I again hit the button to change from Camera to VCR and then back to Camera and it was gone. If it keeps doing it, I'll be forced to send it back to Pany. Have a problem with my Anamorphic Lens that I'm going to put on another posts to see if anyone else is having that problem.
