Hey guys I need to buy two sand bags. I'm looking for used one in good condition medium size for C stand. Anyone has for sale??

buy some cheap jeans from a thrift store , cut off the legs and get them sewn up w/big ziplocks full of sand at either end. have a piece of nylon webbing sewn in the middle and your good to go. i had a friend w/a sewing machine do it for me. 10 sand bags of various sizes for about $20 in jeans and a coupla bags of sand from home depot.
thanks
keith

Some advice, try buying local because of the shipping weight...

You're kidding right?

If not, I apologize cuz that's hilarious. Shipping's minimal as you just fill them w/ sand AFTER they've arrived. The only weight is the empty, zippered, fabric bags.

And - they're cheap.

Nope, he's not kidding. Not all sandbags are the zippered fill-'em-yourself variety. Nor, is sand readily available in every location.

Don't all home improvement stores (e.g. ACE Hardware, Home Depot, Lowes, etc) sell some form of sand bag?

And they sell sand, which saves a trip :)

Hey I'll gladly sell sand to anyone who needs it. There's a golfcourse with a nice sand trap about 300 feet from my cube window. Just 5 bucks a lb plus shipping.

Shipping isn't a joke at all - I personally prefer the sewn shut variety of sandbags, never really trusted the zippered ones.
But I've never actually ordered any because of the shipping -

Check it out - UPS GROUND shipping costs almost exactly as much as the sandbag itself.

Need it in a hurry? NO PROBLEM, just have it shipped UPS Next Day Air.

$179.50
(just for the shipping)

Only on this board could someone actually get this worked up about f*'in sandbags.

If you have opposable digits and know how to line a bag,... or, better yet, stitch, then there is no difference between the two types of bags. That is, unless you enjoy wasting money and can't find sand or another suitable counterweight replacement. Hey, whatever, it's your money......

Who's worked up?

Not everyone wants/likes/needs zippered bags. No need to insinuate a lack of manual dexterity or brains for those who wish not to use zippered sandbags. I bought six Matthews sealed bags years ago while in Dallas, so I didn't have to have them shipped.

I've never had a problem with the sealed bags. A client I work for has several of the zippered bags and they are constantly leaking, coming partially unzipped, etc.

Then don't use them. It's pretty simple. The bags are cheaper and if you know how to line and seal them they're, guess what, sandbags.

Congrats on the Matthews bags. That's great. I own some as well. It just strikes me as odd that the "bags suck" when all the mental preparation and 'manual dexterity' going into their use is to fill them with sand and then whine when, mysteriously, sand appears. Its' as if it were behaving like..... sand or some form of silica-based particle. Kinda like.... sand. Weird how that works.

I just don't need to pay someone to finish the process of closing out a bag. There are simply better ways to spend money than on a container for sand.

This thread is so tired, it's not even funny. Waiting patiently for that precious 'last word'.... Silly.

Stop playing the heavy...

Look, you laughed at someone's caution about paying for shipping, accused me of getting "this worked up about f*'in sandbags", and insinuate ignorance on my behalf. I don't know who you are, but you should show some respect to other's replies.

You claim this thread is "tired", yet you 'wait patiently for my last word'. Then you call me "silly"?

If there is a mod within shouting distance, please lock this thread and tell fever to chill.

The fever has chilled as it were. Apologies all-around. I extend an olive branch as an end to my sandbag tantrum. Wow. Go figure.

I hope this Thursday finds you all well-rested, happy and healthy. Suffice to say Wednesday was not one of my better days. I blame too much sitting in the dark punching buttons. Still - no excuse.

Sealed. Zippered. Shaken. Stirred. It's all good. Peace.

Hehe sandbags, douchebags, I like this thread!
BTW I use bags like these:
http://www.globetrotter.de/de/shop/...4401&GTID=402cffff769f934845ebdef0da88390da31
Don´t know how they are called in english, but they are used to keep stuff dry while hiking or rafting...
Anyways what I like about them is that they are watertight and when having a lot of gear to carry around every kilo counts - so I carry them empty and fill them with water
on location (only on bigger jobs, for small jobs with small lightsatnds I also use regular manfrotto ones...)
AND NOW lets start a flame war about using water with electricity!

Obviously, we both got stirred up a bit and we realize there's more to life than what kind of sandbag one chooses. I'll say no more. :lipsrseal

I concur. All is good. :)

I bought zippered sandbags off of eBay a couple of years ago, but the seller I bought them from doesn't have any up at the moment. I haven't had any problems with them, but then, they tend to just sit in my garage for long periods of time. Biding their time until Terry Lasater shows up so they can dent his cowbell. Muwahahahahaha!
