Continuing my hunt for a gh1/gh13 and a lens for less than $500. I'm tossing this out there as I'm hitting a wall in all other directions.

My main concern is that the Continuous auto focus still work with what ever lens. Lens wise I'd like to get something that would give me about 30 feet to the DOF zoom or not 28-55 14-42 type of lens. I'm needing to set this up and let run static for about 45 min with the focal point being static but people not being in the shot at the first 2 min then coming in then leaving. I'm pretty new to this so i could be asking in a completely wrong manner.

You'll find no joy in finding a GH1 hackable body WITH one of the Lumix lenses for under $500. A used body alone goes for at least $450 and the cheapest Auto Focus lens goes for $177 (14-42mm), but it is generally frowned upon and is the lowest level kit lens, just so you have something to start out with. You'll want the 20mm f1.7 pancake lens at least which fetches for around $280+ used, or go with the zoom lens kit 14-140mm which goes for $500+ used.

Yup, sadly I'm aware of all of the above, I was hoping for a GH13 and say a 50mm lens and adapter, or a no-hackable gh1 and a lens.

Good luck with that buy, my friend.

Looking at a 30ft DOF would mean you want to try and take a look at the 85mm F1.4-1.8, 135mm (270mm equivalent on the GH1) f2.8/3.5. The Nikon F-Mount (Rokinon-based 85mm F1.4) offers a nice depth of field and is incredible sharp. However it is fairly pricey, but it does perform very well. If you want, take a gander at the 135mm F2.8, same mount, or the Canon FD 135mm F2.8, both are fairly priced and offer great performance. If your total is $500, try raising an extra $50 and get yourself the GH1 body and the Canon FD/Nikon F-Mount 135mm F2.8/3.5. It'll work wonders for ya.

yes, wusually a hg1 body goes for 450-500 but some peolpe feels ofended when you offerin that range of price. cheers!

This is exactly the type of info I am looking for, thanks a ton. I do have some wiggle room on the body/lens. I know I'll be limited to 1 rig now for sure. I have contact with a local GH13 and a bunch of Primes but he wants to sell the whole thing he's got 24MM, 28MM, 50MM, 100MM, 200MM, 28-80MM. I take it the FD's are MF not AF when mounted on the GH1.

And currently Ebay is aflood with brand new bodies bought by people who bought the combo deal 2 weeks ago and are splitting them up for sale, specifically what Panasonic said they would cancel peoples direct accounts for. Just irks me a bit.

Yup. But for film, which I can only guess is why you need it, MF is usually preffered. When you are happy with the diversity of your lens, try to build a rig with a follow focus. MF at that point gives you a nice rack focus effect, which is equivalent to very smooth focus from the minimal focus point to the focus point of interest and vice versa.

If you are looking to spend $875 for GH13 + Nikon to M4/3 adapter + tamron 17-50mm f2.8 vc lens, let me know. With this lens, you won't have autofocus, but have you seen any dslr video with autofocus? It is not good. You will get an unusable footage with constant focus hunting.

Or to stay closer to your price range, I can do Gh13, FD to M4/3 adapter + fd 85mm f1.8 and fd 24mm f2 for $650. Let me know if interested in seeing pictures.
