Wanted: Cheap Lens Gears

Any suggestions? I need about 5 for my set of Nikkor primes. Any ideas? It can't be that expensive to make/design these? $60/each seems a bit steep. I have the redrock v2 follow focus.

If they're just going to break on me quickly I'd rather not waste time though...

There is a lot of different lens gears out there, but nothing beats a professionally geared lens... that comes at a price though $$$$! I use the redrock lens gears on all of my lenses and haven't had an issue for about 4 years. From time to time I may have to switch a gear to a rented lens or a friends lens and the redrock gears let me do that in only a couple of seconds. I'm not really a fan of the gears where you have a bunch of different set screws to attach the gear to the lens because you have to be spot on or your follow focus can bind and it can take 15 minutes or so aligning them. If I needed to switch gears in the middle of a shoot for whatever reason, thats wasted time and wasted time = money. The redrock gears work for me and the price is pretty average. Everyone has their own thoughts on this and I thought I would share mine.

Some people have had success buying replacement zacuto zip gears without the metal clips, and making their own joining parts with a simple L shaped block of aluminum with set screws in it. Others have even used the plastic zacuto zip gears with just a bit of wire to pull it tight.

the shoot 35 work great . 360 spin /counter sunk alan keys . solid not like the cheep redrock gears. they are $ 36 each i think.
