Want to submit to Film Festivals, but im no director...

I have been getting some really great ideas for short films and I have been wanting to make them and submit them to film festivals.

The thing is, I'm more focused on the cinematography side of the film. I have directed before, and I am good at it, but I prefer camera/lighting.

Why is this an issue?
Well, if I submit my idea/script to a film festival, I know its my film. But, if I'm not directing it, instead being the DP, then its not really my film anymore and I don't get the credit.

My only idea is being the DP and co-directing it with someone else. As it is my idea, and I know the film well.

What are your thoughts on what I should do?
Im hoping to start shortly within the summertime.

Making a film is a team effort but if you cant work that way and want all the kudos...Direct and D.P it your self.

shoot and direct - why not? You'll learn you like it or not.
I'm not a dp - im a writer/director/actor - for reasons I wont go into I also had to dp this last indy feature i just finished.
Ok - I'm not gordon willis - but I learnt a hell of a lot.

I've seen a few shorts before that have done quite well where the director was also DP, as there was a really small crew. You shouldn't have too much trouble with the credit, especially if your doing 2 jobs!
