Want to hack 24p and 30min limit of my PAL GH1

I never bothered to hack my GH1 but want to give it a try now, but reading about ptools etc makes my head spin a little because there is so much info and reporting of settings that don't seem to work well. I only need two things and that is 24p at higher bitrate and ellimination of the 30min duration limit. Can someone tell me where to start or does someone have ready usable ptool settings for me?
 
you can start with the "ptools for beginners" sticky up top and "shared settings" sticky up top too. i think you will need to swap your region over to ntsc to patch to 24p cause its usually 50i to 25p or 60i to 24p patch.

As MR Fanny points out, you'll need to convert your GH1 to be NTSC instead of PAL in order to achieve 24p Native.

The PAL <-> NTSC in-camera-menu conversion option is easy in ptools (just ticking (checking) a box). However, you may have issues playing NTSC files on PAL equipment (direct to tv, etc). You'll definitely need separate SD cards for recording NTSC and PAL files. Bear in mind that there are currently no fully stable settings for 24pN or 25pN for the GH13. It can work, but it is always a risk.

You can remove the 30 minute clip limit in ptools for the PAL setting easily (just ticking (checking) a box).


If you really want 24pN under PAL, you'll need the GH2.

Yes, after you hack the GH1 with the PAL<->NTSC patch enabled, you'll be able to switch between PAL and NTSC frame rates. In PAL, FHD mode will record in 25p. In NTSC, FHD mode will record in 24p. Check out my signature below for tested GH1 patches that will automatically enable PAL<->NTSC switching.
