I am very sorry if this looks silly but i am an amateur and i really need to know your opinion and your help on this issue.

First of all I live in Kosovo which is located in Europe, and I intend to film Wedding Receptions and Commercials and so on and record them to DVD's

1. I am very much interested to know what camcorder i should buy, DVX-100b or DVX-100be.

I found a DVX-100b at newegg.com for 2,399.99$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830180049
, which i think is cheapest i found.

2. Now i need to buy some extra battery for camcorder so i have at least 9 hours of battery life on my camcorder. Plus one reserve battery just in case.

3. External Battery charger (something that can charge fast)

4. Need to buy also a small (cheap) light set (for on cam) with its own battery.

5. A camcorder case soft or hard (not expensive) but solid.

6. Best recording DV tapes, which you think shall do the work properly.

Again i am so sorry to give you guys so much hard time.

I would very much appreciate your efforts and help in regards to this issue.

you PM your advices or email them 2 me at valon.gashi@gmail.com
(please feel free to send links if you have any)

Best regards,

1. I would recommend that you get the PAL version, since you are in a PAL region... That said, I shot with an NTSC HVX200 in Indonesia and burned NTSC 24p DVD's and they played perfectly in every tv and dvd player we tried them in. But, if you end up mixing footage or working on a multi-camera shoot, you are going to be creating problems for yourself. I would definitely recommend buying the appropriate camera for your region.

My question to you about buying from newegg, or some other company out of your region: Is it going to be that much cheaper once you pay import taxes for your country and when you pay the extra shipping as well? Are you going to be ok with not having any kind of warranty coverage in the even that something should go wrong with your camera? If you don't buy authorized and within your region, you will not have warranty coverage and will not be eligible for any rebates that your region may offer.

2. DVXuser batteries are always a good choice :) They ship international, and for a reliable battery they are priced very affordably. Not to mention you help support the site :)

3. I use a Dolgin quick charger, and I absolutely love it. You can get the 2 bay charger (vs. the 4 bay one that I have)... It's not exactly cheap, but it is well worth the money, and you can charge all your batteries in the time it will take you to drain one on the camera. I love the Dolgin charger. You can also purchase it from the dvxuser shop, or other online outlets as well.

4. For on camera lights, vidleds are commonly recommended on this site for their affordability and they have generally gotten good reviews from our users here as well. Search for "vidled" and I'm sure you will find many threads. www.vidled.com

5. Pelican cases are great for hard cases. Storm cases are fairly common as well. I don't know if they will fit what you describe as "cheap" though. Another option is a backpack made for your camera. You can try cinebags for starters. Check b&h for good prices and to get an idea of what is out there and then shop around to find the best price.

6. Your manual will recommend a specific tape, and your camera should come with one as well. It's not too terribly important to use one tape over the other. Of course, the recommended tapes are... well, recommended :) But, the main thing is to stick with the same tapes throughout the life of your camera. Don't switch back and forth between tape brands. So, find a brand that is readily available for you and stick to it.

Take care,
jason

Thanx a lot Jason,

I have a brother who is studying in NY University and he will buy the DVX for me and the main thing that I am concerned about is the converting from the camcorder to the PC and then from PC to DVD, which can be played in PAL dvd and TV.

So i will have to ask him to buy all this equipment for me and bring them here when he comes for vacation.

But as u understand i am here and i must find everything online, i don't have a chance to test or nothing.
You are the only people that can help a "Future DVX User" to get what is necessary and all accessories that fit good 2gether and give me the best performance for what i want to do with the cam.

Please tell me what I would need in order to shoot for example a 7 hours of reception (in evenings) so it means in low light place, as well as always using the LCD.
Which batteries and how many of those will do the job so that i don't have to be afraid of getting off power in the middle of the reception.

And i might use the light depending on situation about like one hour, something like that.

Sorry if these posts really look silly, but don't forget i am not a native English Speaker! LOL.

Thanx again for everything
