Want a FREE DVD of my movie 'Tangled Web'?

I'm prepping a copy for CreateSpace. Please don't tell me you justify bootlegging (stealing) people's hard work.

I think he was merely saying that he Netflixes everything unless it's something super good.

I'm doing the same. Sold the vast majority of my DVDs, and I have a mere handful of Blu-Rays of some of my all-time favorite movies. I'm not going to waste money on a movie I'll watch once and then never again.

No stealing, I am simply not fond of buying a pig in a poke. I do not see direct-to-DVD as viable distribution concept unless it is backed by cheap or free streaming.

subtleinspiration, you got it perfectly.

The reference to the movie showing up in the 'torrents' was what concerned me.

It will be on CreateSpace for renting or purchase.

Thanks Chris! Hope you enjoy the movie!

Yea, "Wages of Sin" ended up in the torrents too. One company overseas is pretty aggressive about it and you can't really do anything to stop them if they're not here in America. And iTunes doesn't just accept you being an indy filmmaker and deciding to upload. From what I hear there's a lot of red tape. "Wages of Sin" was the first indt film made for Apple TV and it didn't make it. Apple's people even called and spoke with me about it. You have to go through someone to get on iTunes.

I honestly prefer having a DVD hard copy over a digital file any day.

I was gonna sign up, but looks like I was too late. Damn my laziness... :(

As do I. I've rented one movie from Apple, but rent from Redbox almost every week. I haven't bought anything in quite some time. In fact the last DVD I bought was from our own DVX member Chris Tempel. I bought his film "Leap". Besides that I haven't bought a DVD in quite sometime. A year or so actually. I bought some Wesley Snipes flicks because they were on sale three for $20 or something.

Received Tangled Web this morning. Thanks again Dave. I really enjoyed the film. Very interesting the way you put it all together. The lead actress was great.

What are your plans for distribution?

Thanks man! We love Rebecca Morris. You can see her in my 140-second short film "Barry's Birthday" -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45rdp8bi9fA

As I said earlier, I'm prepping a copy for CreateSpace, which will be available for 'rent' through them. I'm selling copies (as cheap as $4.99) at www.tangledwebthemovie.com. And am trying to put together a press kit to send to direct-to-DVD distributors. Fingers crossed!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!

That's great, Dave. Good luck to you.

I may go the same "direct to DVD" route with my film, Mnemonica. First I'm gonna try and raise a few grand with kickstart.com...for a killer web site and professional packaging. I may just distribute Mnemonica myself.

Take a look at trailer link below, tell me what you think

I buy movies constantly, more than 1,200 total DVD / Blu-ray products now, which I think is over 3,000 total discs. In general I'd say I spend $100-200 per month on Amazon, plus I have a Netflix subscription.

I try to be a bit more careful now about not buying movies I most likely won't watch multiple times, but I admit I like owning movies so I still do it. It's fun having a lot of films where friends can borrow what they want and I have such a huge library I always have 50 to 100 movies I haven't even seen before, another 50 to 75 seasons of TV shows I've never seen, etc. I always like to keep my content well ahead of what I've actually seen.

The hardest part about self-distribution is the marketing and promotion. I had planned to try to self-distribute 'Tangled Web', but it's been extrememly hard to drive traffic to the website and get them to buy.

The trailer looks great! The only thing I would have changed is the clip of the guy running across screen right before the words "Coming Soon" appear. Somehow that shot didn't seem to fit. Also, do you have the rights to the song "Ballroom Blitz"??? Anyway, great job!

Thanks. I'm changing the music this week... something original.

Keep us all posted on your progress. It's a great accomplishment to have a feature film under your belt

Dude! Just watched that Tangled Web man! I like it. I thought it was a bit cheesy at first, but that ending was tight as hell. Like I knew something was wrong and I guessed some of it, but I didn't know everything and it was nice how you made it do what it do, know what I mean. And yeah, Rebecca Morris was the bomb on this. She was real good and held it all together.

Oh, I know I talked crap about the cover/poster art, and it is 80's pornish, but as a backdrop for the DVD it was real cool looking. The only thing was I would've liked to see some DVD extras. And what did you shoot on and light with, it looked real good. I think you should've shot it with a real webcam to get the look, but it's looks like a professional soap opera. I mean that in a good way. It was pro work, I just think it was too good for webcam footage.

Oh and I liked her painting the room then repainting it. That ish was wild. I thought she was going to go crazy and do something you played it straight. This could've easily been whack, but you kept it on track. Great job.

I just watched my FREE copy yesterday. Such a great idea for a promotion!

I was really thrown off for the first 10 minutes or so by the lack of changing camera angles. But, I'm glad I stuck it out to see the end, which made the whole thing worth it. Very smart stuff, indeed.

I, too, loved the part when she painted her room and then repainted it. Super good idea.

A classic story that we'd all recognize, but with some really original twists and turns.

My only issues with the film was some of the dialogue audio didn't have any room tone underneath it. So the dialogue sounded like it was cutting in and out. And the other thing was the lack of camera angles. It worked for what you were trying to accomplish, but I was craving more. A very interesting way to shoot a film, definitely original, but it probably won't make you commercially viable. Especially in this 3 millisecond attention span, post youtube world.

I honestly think that if you remade this movie with some C-list, B-list celebrities, and showed more of the story than just what the webcams saw, you could easily get distribution. I mean, the ending was worth it's weight in gold.

All in all, very cool. I'm glad I watched it. You guys should be very proud. You have actually filmed a FEATURE. That is amazing.
