Wanna make six figures? Become a YouTube star!

That's actually really friggin' awesome that people can go out and connect directly with an audience like that and make a living.

this is pretty kool. anyone have a link as to how to actually set up ur own channel in order to make revenue in this way?

I'm subscribed to half of those. Phillip DeFranco (and his 3 channels ... at least) keeps me informed on everything pretty much.

The Annoying Orange does nothing more than p*ss me off, so I don't follow that one. I'm surprised freddiew isn't in there.

I'm pretty sure you have to be a YT partner. Basically, you need to get a crud load of subscribers and keep popping out videos that are 1 million views+. At least one a week.

I've watched a few Annoying Orange episodes.......MEH. :undecided

I'm too busy watching Project: Rant!
Great stuff.

You don't have to do that to become a partner, you just have to produce content consistently. But yeah, to make that kind of money you're looking at getting at least a million views per week probably.

We got invited to be a YouTube partner after a few months, mainly due to our putting out content every week consistently. While we have some loyal subscribers, it's nothing compared to those (link is in my sig if you're interested).

Nice to see that kid Fred pulling in $146k from YouTube. I'm surprised it's not more, he has come up on google as #1 under the search 'fred' for a while now.

He should be able to retire by the time he is 18 providing he has a good money/investment manager.

How about you, Caffesse? How many yachts have you bought this year off of RANT?

Exactly zero.
:)

the good thing is, we haven't made a real serious push to GET people to subscribe, instead we decided a while back to let it grow a bit more organically. So the audience we have seems to be pretty loyal for the most part - people who found the show via word of mouth (or word of twitter, I should say). As of now we're still adding about 20-40 subscribers a day on YouTube. So we'll see.

I can at least tell you that the show has broken even... as long as you assume our time is worthless.

Just a question, Luis, but why do you censor the videos?

Well, first because we honestly think it's a lot funnier that way.

And secondly because a lot of people like to watch them at work, and we figure it's safer for people to play censored videos.

But really that was just an unintended consequence - the humor was the driving factor.
We've always found bleeps to be a lot funnier than the words themselves.
We've gotten a lot of comments about that from viewers... and they seem split 50/50 on it.

Did you see the part about Nickelodeon creating a movie with him?
