Wall-E

I love this movie. Made me feel like the future of pixar will always be there and that they write and creat films probli better than anyone right now... Cars sucked but this ratatoue and incredibles have been amazing! I'm impressed and it made me feel something... emotions for animated robots.

Dude, weren't you the guy absolutely foaming at the mouth about product placement in another thread?

It's not like Wall-E was branded with a Mac logo...it was just an audio cue that the majority of non mac-users probably won't get. Thought it was cute. And I doubt it was paid for.

I know everyone will hate me for this.... but....

I am glad that price of fuel is sky high. Now a lot of people plan their drive, which in turn help ease up on mother earth and or ecology system.

Other than that, I normally don't like Disney films, but this one is sooo well put together along with a GREAT message.
Now I wish parents will try to explain to their kids about the "message" that Wall-E is trying to tell us. :)

oh and do your part ... GO TAPELESS !!! SAY NO TO DV TAPES. :P

I saw this film this weekend (ironic considering I started this thread with the assumption that I was going to see it on the first weekend) but I thought that it was truly brilliant. My fiance who lost interest in it the moment she heard that:
1. it was like a silent movie
2. it was about robots
3. it was futuristic
was intoxicated by the film and really got into the characters. Overall it was a great experience and truly what going to the movies is supposed to be about.

I agree that some of the 'message' was a little over the top and redundant but it doesn't take away from the best film I have seen since 'Into the Wild'

Definitely a great film. The first 20 minutes are perfection.

Possible spoilers!

Unfortunately the spaceship scenes were not as impressive as the Earth scenes and the message, as already mentioned, was kind of heavy handed (but it's a kids film so it sort of has to be). Also, I didn't like the "plot convenience" of a Captain just suddenly questioning everything he's been taught.

BUT the films few flaws were well out-weighed by the gems in this movie. For example; The scene where he shows Eve his home and all the cool stuff he's collected is quite possibly the best first date scene ever made. It's perfect in every detail. His showing off by giving her the rubics cube and then dancing. Then his nervous attempt to touch her hand. That scene has so much heart and emotion and it did it without any words. Amazing.

Definitely go see it.

Whoa, this movie took a steep drop for a Pixar/animated film. Especially for a weekend on which it should've performed well (a holiday). I think maybe the slow parts of the movie aren't playing as well with the young ones as they had hoped (even though they were mine - and most adult's - favorite parts).

No worries. It will still make a lot of money in DVD/BLU-RAY sales. I can't see this not getting over 300 million in overall revenues.

Any overseas results yet?

Wall-E- Best Hollywod film so far this year (IMO)

I searched for the Wall-E thread and couldn't find it, so maybe with this title it makes more sense to start a new one.

Fantastic film. Loved it- loved the message, loved the characters. This is Pixar's best in years.

Even tough there are some poorly explained areas, like the robot's "emotions" and Wall-E's lonely presence in the beginning, its a fantasy film and, albeit it tries to bridge reality with fantasy much more than previous Pixar films- in the way earth is portrayed, for example, or even Wall-E's design and the "video" bits- I believe the movie allows us to "forget" this and really enjoy the experience.

All in All, this movie is full of Heart, and very, very fulfilling. Wall-E and Eva are probably Pixar's best designed characters in years, and seeing their journey is an experience I sincerely recommend everyone to take!

I saw this not too long ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Like Sergio says, it has some flaws, but I didn't care at all - it was so much fun.

Word. Dug it so much.
Although as far as Pixar's best -- Ratatouille gives Wall-E a run for it's money. They're both top notch.

Gotta love how for Wall-E they got Roger Deakins to come in and light a scene for them. They went to the right guy.
Such a great story in Am. Cinematographer on how he did it for them too:
Something about how he just started lighting like crazy, adding tons and tons of lights, all different equipment.
And he says, "this is how you think I'd do it right?"
Then he pulls all of them all away except for two or three and says something like , "this is how it should be done."

Bless Pixar. Keepin' it real even in the purely digital realm.
(and of course, bless Roger Deakins too.)

It's respectful that's what... to get a real cinematographer to aid them in the digital field. It reminds me of how everything strips down to what is most important:

Cinematography.

kidding.
