Shot on DVX100a
F1 (60i)

The sky is a little pale for my taste. Any tips/feedback on getting it a deeper blue for next time?

General feedback welcome too.

BTW -The guy survived and kept going the rest of the day!

Re: WakeSkate Crash Sequence

I am sooooo old. Is this what young people are doing now? ;D

The shots look fine. The sky color is actually pretty good. Usually I get washed out skies (nothin' but white). Any chance we can see a small clip? Curious about your shutter speed, etc.

Good stuff!

Re: WakeSkate Crash Sequence

Wow. That looks gnarley. Great job DPC. Any chance you can get the clip up?

Re: WakeSkate Crash Sequence

Hey, looks great. I think the sky looks good as well, but if you wanted it more blue next time you could use a circular polorizer.
Is it just me or do the grabs look really low resolution and overly compressed? How did you compress these?

Re: WakeSkate Crash Sequence

I'll post the clip details and the whole clip tonight.

The shutter speed was set to 1/1000 and following scene settings were used:

V Detail Level:  +2
Detail Coring:   +3
Chroma Level:  +5
Chroma Phave: +3
Color Temp:     -2
Master Ped:     -12
Gamma: Cine-Like
Matrix:   Enriched

@scharky - I was shooting in 60i and the grabs were compressed at Jpeg 60. Here's the original frame export (1 MB, .tiff)

Re: WakeSkate Crash Sequence

Thanks John! I did the following to get the screen grabs:

1) Exported the frame from Premiere Pro as a .tiff
2) Opend the .tiff in Photoshop.
3) Applied the De-Interlace filter (I shot in 60i) Filter > Video > De-Interlace / Select Eliminate = "Even Fields" & Create New Fields by = "Interpolation"

Re: WakeSkate Crash Sequence

DPC, your name sounds like DCP ;D a famous snowboarder from Canada!

Re: WakeSkate Crash Sequence

I never use 60i but I wonder if de-interlacing was what you wanted to do? If you de-interlace are'nt you removing one of the fields?

Re: WakeSkate Crash Sequence

@Ronik - David Carrier-Porcheron... a DPC film staring DCP... lol

@John - Yes, one of the options on the de-interlace filter is to remove either the "odd" or "even" fields.

Is it just me? or is the "tape data" information not recorded when shooting in F1 (60i)? I put in a tape shot in 24pa and I could see this info..

De-Interlaced Filter Odd Field & Interpolation (Cleanest, the jagged edges on roof tops are minimal)

De-Interlaced Filter Even Field & Duplication (failry clean, no jagged edges on the mountains, but some on the roof tops)
