Seriously? This thread is NINE PAGES of people trying to answer your question and share their individual experiences on what works for them and THIS is your response? Take a break from the keyboard or something. This cannot be a mature adult's reaction to an answer he doesn't like or agree with.

So I'm hopeful for this lens to give us a zoom with a bit of character that can be used run and gun. I'm wondering why it was announced some months back but we still having seen it. Is this normal for lens?

You should check out the Olympus 4/3 standard lenses. They make a 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 for $599. Then there are the ridiculously expensive lenses, the 14mm-35mm f2.0 for $2299, and a 35-100 for $2499. Then just pick up that OM3 adapter for like $200.
