VTR

Looking to buy a DV playback deck for digital mini-cassettes for an editing suite I'm putting together . I'm sure there are fellow DVX users out there who can point me in the right direction and save me lots of shopping time. I'm mostly going to be working on regional documentaries, i.e. the think small concept. Also, should mention that I'm thinking about possibly buying the Sony FX-1 when it comes out.

Thanks.

Re: VTR

Hey Cruise, I'm not a hundred percent sure, so let me warn you in advance and advice you to go ask one of the platinum members in the hardware question or maybe the technical section after you read this.

I would think you would need a 3ccd cam with dv in/out connection and that 's it right? Well I guess power and a clean functioning head in the camera as well. I'm using Sony's TRV 9
right now.

Re: VTR

Are we just talking about a VTR here? You don't need a good camera for that. If you have money, but an actual deck—it will hold up longer and be faster and easier to use. But if you're poor like most of us ;) then just get the cheapest miniDV cam with a firewire out that you can find. It will do the job just as well as a more expensive cam without the worry that you're putting too much wear on the heads.
