VTR button on XT17x4.5BRM-K14 stock lens for HPX370

If you mean the rubber thumb button on the back of the zoom rocker assembly then YES it should put your camera into record and stop it when pressed again.

The RET button on the top does something else.
 
Thanks Gary. Mine's not (just purchased). I checked switches in the lens, tried different configurations as per the Fujinon manual. Any suggestions? Gratefully, Tony
 
Have you tried re-seatting the connector that is plugged into the front of the camera?

It should work straight out of the box as mine did, I will have a look and see if there are any menu settings that would cause it not to work.

Stupid question but you do have a formatted P2 card in the slots and make sure it is not write protected?

Is the HOLD button pressed on the back of the camera (where the timecode and audio switches are) you will see HOLD in the top left of the screen if it is and the camera will be locked from recording.

Do the rec buttons on the the top and at the front of the camera body work?

Last option is that the lens or camera may be faulty.

Thanks for the replies. I took it to the authorized Fujinon service centre here in Canada (Century Optronics) who were very friendly and prompt. Good news: it was a simple matter of adjusting the switches. I had them all factory default (all to the left) but I should've had the third to the right. The rep said yes, the manual was perhaps confusing on this regard. Anyway, the VTR button DOES activate the rec/pause function now. Phew. (Gary, yes I tried re-plugging the lens to camera cable.) Good to hear you are sorted, I had this happen once but it was that I had pressed the HOLD switch and it locked the camera functions, at least it show it in the display but it's a panic moment if you do it and don't notice the HOLD displayed.
