Vonage Anyone?

Just wanted to see how many other people had this service and if they've enjoyed or hated it at all.
I've had Vonage for 2 years, never payed more than 26 dollars a month unless my wife called her people in spain which is no longer a problem because all calls to europe are free.

I've taken the modem on various business trips and vacations with my laptop and its great when you get to your hotel, since it dosent matter where you go people can still call you at the same number (even in spain, i tried it) and you'll get the call.
Never had a trap waiting for me and never been bothered by them. I think I've talked to them twice, just to say thanks.

Just thought it might be interesting to see who else has vonage (no i dont work for them) and what, as the commercial says, people do stupid ****. (that is the motto isn't it?):Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

not entirely...

I've had a good experience with Vonage. I use it for business because my clients are all over the country, and it saves a ton on phone bills. It depends, of course, on your bandwidth. Some other friends have had troubles with it.

VOIP? Wait, I don't get it, I know that internet phone and voice over ip is essentially the same thing, but not. I mean I have Ventrilo and its great to game with or talk to something like you guys or whatnot, but theres nothing like having real phones in the house that you can answer your calls with. I mean, yor business card doesn't say
:TEL. SKYPE: does it?
I'm asking this question also because if i'm missing something, I want to know what it is... who the hell dosen't like free?

one thing with skype, whenever i call people, they say my number shows up on caller id as 000012345. love the service, but i wish they would fix that.

also it was a pain in the butt to find a phone. had to go to like 5 radio shacks before i couldf ind what i wanterd in stock. the service is free and I do like it, but vonage sounds like they have their act more together.

My bro-in-law had it for about 3 months and turned it off because of terrible service and line static. It seemed their phone was down most of the time while they had it.

I have had www.sunrocket.com for the last 2 years. It's $199 a year and includes voicemail, caller ID, two 2.4gig phones, free long distance in US and Canada, and all those other functions. I really have been happy with the service, price, and performance of it. I don't get cellphone reception in the house so for only $200 it's the best solution to my telephone situation.

The other cool thing about Sun Rocket is you can have two phone numbers in any area code you want... So if you want to appear like you're in LA or somewhere else you can do that... Or just cheat on the girlfriend :)

Great service and I recommend it.

See that service sounds kinda cool, the price sounds awesome, the only thing is my wife is european and calls her family once a day. With vonage all calls to europe are free and another cool feature was when my cousin went to australia for a boxing thing he took a vonage modem with him from the states. We would just call him on his reg. number and he'd answer it Down Under.:smiley_do

Can we have TOLL FREE's with that ?

They don't offer a toll free service but for $3 a month you can get a local number in another area code. For example if you have clients who are in LA you can get a local number there plus one in Chicago one in NY, ect. You can have a total of 6 numbers for $3 extra. I personally don't use it for that. They do have plans for international calls to Europe and what not, but I just use it because I don't get reception in the house with my cell phone.

The only downside, and you will find this with any service, is that when the cable goes out, and Time Warner sucks, then the phone is out. This happens like 6 times a year for a couple of hours at a time.

Other than that, it is a great service with great reception, plus $200 a year is dirt cheap.

We have vonage for our main line, after some QOS issues the quality is great.

I also have 2 lines with connect.voicepulse.com and run a Asterisk PBX for my buisness line.

If anyone needs 800 #s you can get them cheap at get1800.com
