Voigtländer + Red Rock Matte Box + Ikam FF = Not workable combo?

Hi.

Dumb question probably. But I've been trying to fit my Ikam FF on the Voigtländer which works fine. And also my Red Rock Matte Box, which also is fine, but when I try to fit then together it seems the lens barrell is too short to fit everything.

In order for the FF to get close enough to the camera body so that it aligns with the aperture ring, it has to be mounted on the right side. And my Matte box has an "arm" on the right side that allows it to be fitted on the rails. I have not found a way to mount it from the left side. All this means that the "arm" that fits the Matte Box collides with the FF before I can get it close enough to the camera body for it to work.

This is the Matte Box I'm using:

And this is the FF:

Any help would be appreciated..

I was able to mount the Matte box on the left side, but it still does not close the gap properly between lens and mate box properly because the FF collides with the Matte box itself..

I'm not using a matte box right now but I'm glad you brought this up. I have the Voigtlander and I have to mount my RR follow focus on the right because the focus is inside and the aperture ring outside. It's a drag.

Here is the setup I use with Voightlander FF and MB.

The Rail system is my compact light design, the mattebox is a Genus and the FF is Cavision. I use Nuns Nickers instead of rings to fit almost any lens. And I leave the Lens shade on the Voightlander.

I have yet to find a lens that does not work with this setup. Though I am sure the pancake lenses are too small.

hscully,
Have you tried flipping the drive gear to the other side? That's a little known feature about the V2.

Christian,
Few options I can think of without seeing your setup:
1. Have you tried extending the matte box on it's side rails all the way (so basically bringing it to the ends of the 4" Rods it's attached to) and attaching the follow focus in front of the 15mm Support Arm for your matte box?
2. On the opposite side of the spectrum have you tried bringing the am all the way in till it touches the matte box?
3. If your follow focus has to be on the right hand side to come in contact with the focus ring, put the 15mm support arm on the left side of the rig, and flip the swing away bracket so it's facing upright again and then you should clear everything.

That works great. I had to order the reverse arm indicator, which is OK. Thanks for the help. Besides the pro contributors, it is a really cool aspect of this site that the manufacturers also comment. It's brave because it's a chance to open a dialog that might go in any direction, not always positive for the manufacturer. This was very positive for me. So, anyway... thanks.

No Problem,
Glad it worked out, thats what we're here for! And just on a personal note, I've been a member of DVXuser long before I was ever affiliated with Redrock, so I still and always feel like just one of the memebers' hahaha
