[FS: General] Voightlander 25mm 0.95 for sale!

Lens received. Holy crap this thing is awesome. Yeah, it's tiny, and dense, but the proof is in the pudding. Thanks John :D

Shoot some comparison clips with it against an cheap lens - lets see if the difference is $850?

Apparently it stacks up nicely against a $10,500 Leica, and will probably be one of if not my most often used lenses, even after the Birger mount allows me to properly use the dozen or so L lenses I have (all of which were worth the premium in price over non-Ls).

I bought this lens based purely on others' reviews, and even after a few minutes of playing with it happily label myself a Nokton sheep. Baa-aaa-aaa! :D

I'm just as enthusiastic about it. It's a great lens, super sharp, and extremely fast. But -- its main value is in its hyper-fast speed. Compare it against the Leica $10k lens, and the $899 Voigtlander is a steal for a lens that gives you f0.95. I may like the Voigtlander better than my Zeiss ZF 25mm in a straight-up comparison, but then you have to factor in that the Voigtlander is more than three stops faster(!) and $100 less... you're paying less for a lens that feels like it's the equal in build quality, equal in image quality, and can get the same brightness in 1/10th (1/10th!!!) as much light...

It's a steal. Great lens, if you need what it does.

I think I'll be shooting atleast half of my feature film with this lens. It's incredible.... simply incredible. With the teleconverter option it has some flexibility too. It'll also be around forever. It's built like a tank.

Curious how it compares to the Canon FD 24mm f/1.4L. I know it's a bit faster, and the FD often goes used for more than the voigtlander does new....

can you elaborate what is so incredible?

Jim, it's more than just a bit faster: a full 1.14 stops according to the calculator Barry put the link to in this post: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?234247-Must-have-lenses&p=2234365&viewfull=1#post2234365

Also the Canon's minimum focusing distance is about four times longer at ~11.81", vs. the Voigtlaender's ~3".

Good points. I was leaning towards the Canon FD because I already have some and I want to match the look as best I can for projects where I am switching lenses. They probably have a less sharp look than the voigtlander. But dang, it sounds like a screaming great lens.
