More Stills...

Nothing new to report, hopefully we'll have 98% of the movie colored by next Monday. That's my hope! :)

Wow! It's been almost a month and I still dont have the last 7 minutes colored! LOL But I have worked on the audio extensively.

Simple Update: This movie is almost drawing to a close. I'll try to post some new stills and the official poster in about 10 days or so. (I'm on vacation next week). We hope to have an Atlanta premiere in late August for this one, and we're already in talks for a new movie to come very soon.

I'll definately be looking for it. The July 4th date is not that hard for us "I think" - we've got over 85% of the movie colored and now were pushing to get more of the audio clean and mixed. We've already got over 70% of the score and the sound track. So I think we can make it.

Wow, just found this quote. But to my advantage while Coming Correct is not finished, it is extremely watchable. After the CC, I only have a few scenes to rework - vocal audio and at least half of the sound effects are in place. So we didn't do too badly although I'm sure at least 10 more days of good solid work will be needed.

Also, Anybody in Atlanta good with cutting trailers for comedies? We sure could use one. LOL :)

Didn't see your post Martin, I'm sorry. I've been busy trying to finish up. Tomorrow we sit down for hopefully our last cleanup of the audio mix. We've had another small showing and everyone gave a thumbs up on the new direction, only issues were sound. So Friday - major sound fixes and the weekend we'll record some ADR and layer it in next week. At that point we'll be offically 99.5% done. Only minor tweaks and I'll start sending to festivals and such.

I think battle will be great. I've been bragging on your producing skills for a while and I'm sure you won't let me down. When you're not busy (which may never come. LOL) maybe I can get with you and show the project to you or vice versa with battle. I definately need help in the marketing department, so anybody you know looking, definately feel free to send them my way.

Yeah, we'll hook up when we're both not busy, Ha!

But definitely want to check out "Voices" and will certainly share some "Battle" stories and inside info as we progress past principle photography.

Coming Correct - Log Stardate September 8 - the Klingons are fighting us with everything they've got...

Oops wrong thread. LOL

Time for a quick update. We did some ADR this weekend with 4 of the actors. I had wanted to get the 5 actors I needed for ADR all this weekend, but leave it to me to wait til the last minute and one actress was on her way to Vegas to celebrate Labor Day. Go fig. Anyway I got the other 4 and already layered in 2 of the major ADR fixes. Wow what a difference.

I'll say this too as a quick off topic, Shaun Mixon is a great actor for anyone who is looking for a muscular 5'9" attractive (so my wife says) black actor. In the scene that he ADR'd he was crying, so Shawn piped up the tears again - 5 times so I could get the ADR right. So not only does he have to hit the pattern of speech, but also the emotion and major emotion. When I layered in the track, I'll be d&mn if it wasn't 95% perfect. Only two lines were slightly off and they look more like lipsync slightly off than ADR. Shaun is definately no joke. I mean all my actors are fabulous, I can't rave on them more, but Shaun showed his &ss on this one. I really think he can be the next Taye Diggs and maybe Denzel Washington.

I plan on layering in all the rest of the ADR this week along with a few more sound FX. I'm going to try to get my editor to come through on Friday and watch the movie and anything he sees we need to add, we'll add Friday night. And that will make Coming Correct 99.5% done in my book. I still have the actress that I have to wait until Next week to get ADR from, but besides that, I'm done.

And it's been a journey over 20 months of hard work to make 90 minutes of movie. But it's the first movie I can say I'm truly happy with (after my other 2 feats) - sure I would have added this and that and wish I had this and that, but I feel like you can watch the story, enjoy the story without any distractions from audio, camera work, lighting, sets, etc. It's had the absolute best actors I've ever worked with - the largest cast I've ever worked with - plenty of locations so the average viewer won't get bored and plenty of music and sounds to fill your ears.

We had 2 screenings for this - for those keeping with the thread - the first was over 5 months ago and it went well. And we had another two weeks ago. The second one was filled mainly with the crew. We did have one new guy who was interested in doing Computer Graphics/FX and 3D Animation for us. He saw the movie and gave it a thumbs up. It convinced him to at least help us out on the next movie which I think may be my first action film. The guy has worked on Cats and Dogs and Dungeons and Dragon the movie and has fellow associates who've worked on Transformers - so he's excited because he wants something to show the TF people that he's still "got it".

The funny part is that we did a few greenscreen scenes and when the movie was over, he didn't notice which scenes were greenscreened (or at least he lied to me to make me feel good.) I thought that was cool - so Andrew Cramer definately has been helping a brother out. LOL

All I can say on the "New Action Film to Follow Coming Correct" is that it will be truly something to witness. I can't give everything away, but with what we are talking about now - it'll be a huge eye opener and a large scaled fun project for all those involved. One of the main reasons I did so much greenscreen was to learn to master it for projects like this. This new movie "may" (remember we're still up in the air) feature 3D animation, Green Screen, Computer Environments, Fight Sequences, Explosions, and more. The best way I can describe it is Terminator meets Matrix and it'll be crazy on a modest budget.

We're now finally making a Coming Correct Trailer - i.e. making one. I also have to contact my brother-in-law who is into PR. I plan on going over to his house this coming Saturday and letting him watch the movie. He may be able to open some doors locally and the writer actually knows a few people herself that maybe able to get the movie a little buzz. But anyone who knows something that can help - please let me know. I love to learn and if you'll have an agent or something looking for projects - let me know. :dankk2:

I feel you on trailer and website woes :) www.battle-movie.com is our official site in its baby beginnings and teaser trailer target for release 12/31 for Battle

Congratulations on the festival. I went last you to the San Diego Black Film Festival. It's pretty cool. We had B.A.M. a short film there and it was a fun experience. The venue is very cool and San Diego is a nice city. Definitely bring flyers and get there prior to the screening even though you have the advantage of being screened opening night and it is a little easier getting folks into the seats on opening night. Enjoy it and good luck with it.

Thanks Martin. I need to call you, so I can ask you more questions about it. Can you email me your number? I sent you an email this morning about something you said on the Battle thread.

Anyway, yeah I hope you guys can stay on schedule. Being an indie is so hard. :2vrolijk_08:
