Yep. I agree 100%. Yes she was already famous, now she's much much more. My mom's a 60 something black woman whose never heard of Taylor Swift...until last night.

I'll say it one more time in this thread.....she didn't need overnight fame via some publicity stunt.....Unless you are living in some cultural vacuum, you'd know that she is one of the most popular & sucessful artists right now.*

*Nathyn, no offense to your mother, but she is 60 years old. I don't think my mom knows her either. :grin:

I guess I was living in a cultural vacuum, because I didn't know who she was until this stunt happened.

I did hear 10 seconds of one her songs though, and my ears starting melting. Her music is super boring.

On the Kanye v. Swift note, what he did was wrong and rude and etc, but he was kind of right. How does Beyonce win Video of the Year but not Female Video of the Year? Yeah, yeah, we all know there isn't an ounce of legitimacy in the VMA's, but in the world of the VMA's, MTV proved him right by giving Beyonce Video of the Year.

MTV's audience thrives off drama, I can do the math.

Kanye is known for being a douche. Hasn't he done something like this before at another awards show?

I mean maybe you're right, and it is obvious. But I don't believe in the "any press is good press" philosophy. I mean people are telling me how they're taking his music out of their mp3 players. It's negatively affected Kanye. Janets nip slip, that screams PR stunt. This, not so much, not to me at least.

Also, watching the interview with Taylor on the view, she seemed genuine. Watching Kanye on Jay Leno, he seemed genuinely... down and messed up from all the problems it's caused him. I also doubt they're both amazing actors that they could pull this off for so long and fool everyone. They're singers not actors (Taylor's videos show her range of acting abilities after all, which isn't much).
 
Man, I need an actor who looks just like Kanye. I had this idea to send in to SNL. Have him interrupt funerals, daycare centers, surgeries, etc. (all staged of course) Then have the actor make stupid a$$ comments about what was going on and how beyonce was better at doing that. I think that it would......

Ohh please,

They are performers. Musician / rappers / performers make the best actors, masters of working the audience, any 12 year old could pull this off btw.

Kanye West knows exactly what he was doing. He posed on the red carpet holding Cognac, so he could blame the alcohol if he had to. I don’t know if the reaction was what he was expecting but the whole thing had to be pre-planned.

He was booked before the VMA's for Leno, it had the highest raings for a talk show premiere EVER! Stunt for Leno's raings?

Let your friends remove thier mp3's, they already bought them (or stole them).

On Leno he was more stunned from a reaction that was far bigger than expected. "How would your mom react to his" not much of a response, more like holy shi* this turned out worse than my agent told me it would. My oppinion.

He'll blame it on alcohol or drugs, goto rehab for 30 days and be back bigger than ever.

He should go into acting.

I have no doubt this was a stunt.
 
I just can't shake the feeling that Chip's right about the whole thing. And Kanye always makes it a point to mention that he drank before these outburst.

Leno's raings were roughly 18 million Monday. Tuesday without Kanye around 10 million.

Leno should have booked Taylor Swift for Tuesday.
