its the best A1 footage i've seen on vimeo. Any other ways to compress my A1 footage to 500MB or lower to this standard?

I'm losing a lot of color when i use the Quicktime Conversion>H.264 Bit rate 5,000 in final cut. And when i use some of the codecs in Compressor they lose resolution..

Thank you for any help, i appreciate it.

Well for QT h264 is the way I go, and I hear you about losing some color. Sometimes that can be fixed by going into the filter option on the h624 export and bumping up the saturation.

For flvs I use Sorenson Squeeze, or I just export out of FCP as an FLV using the on2 VP6 pro codec.

the apple h.264 codec is well known for that faded look, and the compression isn't as good as what mainconcept is currently doing... can you afford squeeze 5.0?

"Overall, if you’re in the market for an H.264 encoding tool, I would definitely prioritize any tool with the MainConcept codec, though the advantage over the Dicas codec is very modest. On the other hand, if you’re currently producing H.264 video with the Apple codec, you could probably improve quality, cut bitrate, or both by switching to a tool with either the MainConcept or Dicas codec."

I also will chime in and say that Quicktime's implementation of h.264 is horrible (encoder, and decoder).

There is a free h.264 encoder called x264 which creates wonderful results. Its packaged in software like meGui for windows and Handbrake for Mac. There are also other packages that x264 is in. Check out the doom9 mpeg-4 encoder guis section for further reading.
