VirtualDub, Deshaker, and 24pA

Figured I'd ask this here since most vegas guys are the most familiar with these two programs.

I've got some 24pA footage from a DVX shot using a cable cam. Virtualdub doesn't recognize the pulldown and so I'm getting interlacing.

I only started using VD to use deshaker so my understanding of it is pretty limited.

What's the easiest way to get the pulldown removed while running deshaker? Or do I have to do this in two steps?

All the deinterlace and pulldown removal settings I've tried in virtualdub look like ass. I either get skipped frames (19fps output) or horribly blurred frames from blending the interlaced ones.

I'm using premiere pro cs3 for what it's worth. For some reason I can't remove the pulldown once I go from VD back to CS3.

Thanks guys

Yes when you deinterlace you will always have the video getting softer. Now if this was such a shaky shot then its probably just a tad bit lesser blurred even when interlaced. I dont think the problem is within VD. If you suspect this. Why dont you first deinterlace/remove pulldown from within PPro and then import that footage into VD for deshaking ? Also try running a video analysis pass (from the main menu) in VD before you hit a final render.

For some reason when I try to export a 24p file from Premiere it still shows up as a 30fps file with a pulldown in VD.

I did play around with the pulldown removal menu on VD a few hours ago and found one that does remove it properly. I've been doing two steps though, I'd just prefer to do it as one. I was saving out a file from VD and then just opening that new file to run deshaker. I'll try doing just a pass first.

Thanks for the response.

You tried the AE stabelizer? Might not work so well with the Cabelcam cause it requires a track point, therefore one thing in the frame at all time... worth a shot tho.
