vimeo uploads - what mbps do you use?

I've been uploading 720p h264 quicktimes at 4mbps or 5mbps. Sometimes I get a jump on playback but macbook isn't the fastest. What bitrate are you all using?

Doesn't vimeo re-encode whatever video you send them? Or do you mean what bitrate for the original so the download option is smoother?

Yep .. thats what I meant. What format/bitrate do you upload? Just interested in everyone's formula's so as we can share the knowledge.

So far my GH1 examples you see in this sub forum were created by uploading a quicktime with h264 compression.
For 'He's up he's gone' the h264 compression had a bitrate capped at 5 mbps
'Curtains' and 'Staring at the Sun' had bitrates capped at 4 mbps.

I am considering going lower as I still see jittery playback but maybe its my (not so fast) macbook.

EDIT: an interesting test I did is to use Firefox's DownloadHelper to rip the flv to your desktop and then compare the filesize to your upload
