Vimeo embedding enabled on DVXuser!

Awesome, thanks!

(also adding my very strong vote for YouTube, though. I'd be willing to help you guys ban any rickrollers if that's what's needed.) :)

just not really feeling youtube right now.... most (not all, but most) of youtube on here seems to be cafe stuff. Vimeo obviously is people's work and generally filmmaking related, so I am definitely cool with that.

So, at the moment, I'm not too keen on seeing a cafe full of youtube embeds.

But, I'm open to having my mind changed...

youtube's compression is still rank even though it has come on a long way, but i'm not sure why anybody who takes pride in their work would choose that over vimeo. sure youtube gets you lots of hits from all walks of life so is great for that.

as much as i despise youtube, i think that everybody on this site is mature enough to only post links that are actually worth watching and of interest to others here...

Well, here goes: YouTube is still far and away the leading distributor for online video by a huge margin. Since that is where the audience is, that is where we post up most of our work that is intended for the public. Our trailers, shows, and short content are primarily distributed through YouTube, and I am sure I am not alone in this based on many conversations with other web video creators. Quality-wise, YouTube has made enormous strides. I still slightly prefer the Vimeo user experience and quality, personally, but I can't argue with the logic that it's much, much better to be where the audience is. YouTube has also reached out to support independent filmmakers in a variety of ways and their editors are very personable and easy to work with as a serious content creator.

Vimeo is supported by TubeMogul, so that wouldn't be a huge problem since we can get one-click uploads there as well, but for some content we prefer to keep all the traffic in one place where we can easily analyze it, and that place is YouTube.

One possible compromise: disable YouTube embedding specifically in the cafe.

Well said, Doug.

Aside from that, what's wrong with YouTube embeds in the Cafe? The Cafe is an important part of the success of this website. YouTube embeds wouldn't steal bandwidth from this site would they?

The "What are you listening to now?" thread would be a great place to post YouTube vids.

If YouTube links are allowed, why not embeds? It's not a question of feeling it but, rather, a matter of keeping up with the times.

Fair enough... I'll think about it... But, it's low on the list of priorities right now... top is getting prize stuff fulfilled so the angry mobs don't come after me :)

Jason

This is amazing news. Curious. Did you have to re-code the site a bit to add this feature? I love this site.

just create custom bb codes. not that big of a deal. Way to allow it without enabling html on the forum, which can be very dangerous.
