Viewing footage without an editing software?

Greetings,

I am shooting a project on a Canon 7D for a client. They want to view the HD footage on their lap top where images do not stutter or stop and start (as many HD files do in quicktime when playing on a desktop). The client knows NOTHING about editing etc. Is there a software that they can view Canon 7D (that is not an editing program and that is downloaded for free etc.) that they can view these HD files. Does that Canon website recommend such a software.

thanx,

They'll need a pretty beefy laptop, but most programs will play back the Canon 7D footage. I'd suggest at the very least an Intel Core Duo processor and 2gb of RAM. Any standard Macbook Pro will play back the footage, for example.

Also, any program with hardware acceleration will work best - Quicktime X with Perian, for example, plays footage back like a dream on my laptop. VLC is also very good, and cross platform (should your client want to view the files on a Windows computer.)

Another option is getting a small monitor and using a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable and playing it back off the camera.

Get an i7 processor with 3 gb of ram and you will be very happy.
