Viewfinder Smashed to Smitherines.... Help!

So my HVX200 just took a tumble and the viewfinder is totally smashed in... it does not even close, so I cannot even use the viewfinder to see what I am doing.

I need to save up to get it fixed, but in the meantime does anyone know if there is a way to overide the camera and tell it to ONLY use the viewfinder?

This really sucks!

Your message is slightly confusing -- I think you mean to say that the LCD panel got smashed, right? So you're trying to find out if it's possible to make only the viewfinder work and not the LCD? If so, sort of -- there's a menu option called, IIRC, "EVF MODE" and you'd want to set that to ON. As to exactly how to get there, that's going to be the iffy part, you'd have to know what menu setting you were on already in order for someone to be able to tell you how to navigate to the EVF MODE menu...

There should be a little switch that gets pressed in to tell the LCD panel to turn off, but I don't have an HVX in front of me to look for it. Maybe someone else can experiment and see if they can find what to press to trick the camera into thinking the LCD is closed?

If your camera still has Video Out OSD on you should be able to plug it into an external source (Television) to navigate the menu.
